    3. If anyone is researching the Hartsaw family in Putnam Co., IN there is an old photograph up for auction at Ebay. It is a photo of a young boy in a sailor suit and the photographer was located in Cloverdale, IN. I had hoped that it was going to be from one of my families so I emailed the seller and asked what name was on the back of the photo. Unfortunately, I can't use it but thought that someone here might be able to. Below is her response. > Hello Teresa Barton June 2 > Ok...here is what is stated on back of > cabinet card. > John Hartsaw in what looks like ball point pen. > then on down in faded pencil > is written .......... > John Elmer Hartsaw > was born July 8 1908. 1. MINNIE NEAL - BROOM - COUCHMAN
    2. Laura Ellen Mitchell
    3. Minnie Neal and Nile Couchman were married in Putnam county, date unknown, and had one daughter, Mildred Ruth Couchman Page, born Dec. 30, 1911. Minnie deserted the family, and nothing is known about her. If anyone knows her birthdate, death date, and whether she remarried, please respond. >From obituaries and Putnam Co. WPA records, I have concluded that Amos N. Couchman was the father of Nile, and Emma Florence Broom his mother. There is an entry for Anniers Couchman and Florence Brown having a child. However, all the Florence Brown entries are really for Florence Broom, and they match up partially to some of the children I have definite dates about. There were twin boys born to this family also. However, cannot figure out where the name Anniers came from. I can't logically turn Amos N. into "Anniers" Amos N. Couchman and Emma Florence Broom apparently divorced, because she died many years later, but there is a second marriage record for Amos long before Emma died. Presume that Amos Couchman's father may have been Jacob Couchman of Greencastle and his mother Miriam Daniel, but have not verified that. If anyone else has already traced this, please share info. 1. John Henry Wilson Family, Putnam Co., 1840-1855
    2. Jeannine Harber
    3. I am still trying to find some information on my Wilson Family in Clinton Township in Putnam County. I did find that John Henry Wilson was born in King George Co., VA, married Susan Bettis in Mason County, KY. They came to Putnam County, Clinton Township around 1840 and lived there until about 1855. According to a great aunt he had a brother called Tunis, though I haven't found a trace of anyone by that name. John has a sister Ann who is also shown in Clinton Township, Susan has a brother Abner Bettis and a sister Frances Shepherd living there. There are other Wilson's living there, but haven't been able to make a connection yet. John Henry also had a sister Jane who married Levi Rogers. All these families except Abner Bettis immigrated to Wayne Co., IA showing in the 1856 Census for Wayne Co., IA. 1856 is the correct census year not an error. 3. Margaret Ellen Carter b. 2-27-1833, married William C Mannan 8-25-1856 Elizabeth Ann Carter b. 2-19-1828 married Samuel Arnett 8-22-1853. Nancy Jane Carter b 8-27-1829, married William Pittman 8-10-1854. All married Putnam Co., In. ALL BORN KENTUCKY. Strong possibility exists that these 3 ladies, were NOT daughters of John CARTER Jr,born 1-2-1813, and Eliza Nutterfee/Nutterfield CARTER, born 2-26-1810. I have been told that Margaret was a half-sister to Ludwell Carter, who WAS a son of John and Eliza. Also, Johns age at time of birth of Elizabeth, and Nancy, might indicate that they were daughters of Eliza in an earlier marriage. If anyone has ANY information on any of the three, I would greatly appreciate any information you might be able to give me. Dick Carter rcar37@prodigy.net

    1. BOOK AUCTIONS
    2. Norma Key
    3. Hi lists, I would like to share my book auction experience. Hopefully this will benefit some of you. This week is the first time I have bid at an auction for genealogy and history books. After losing a couple of bids that I really wanted, I checked out this site that was recommended on one of these lists. http://www.bookradar.com/ I found the books I lost the bids on at less than what the high bid went for. This is not to say that the auctions are not good, since after armed with my educated maximum bid I did get two bargains. My new plan of attack: I copy the bid info, then check availability and price before bidding. Then I can make an educated maximum bid (1 time)or no bid at all, and feel at ease that I am not going to overpay or bid against myself just to raise my maximum (which I did twice). >From watching the bids go crazy this week (a $40.00 book auctioned at $109.50..... which is what prompted this email) I'm sure some of you can benefit by this info, especially if you are new at it like I am.
