See my previous post... I NEED THE FATHER'S NAME...
If you have access to the 1870 census for Morgan, Owen, or Putnam county, Indiana, I am seeking a lookup for a DUNKIN/DUNCAN family with at least the following. SARAH age 49, son JAMES, age 16, and perhaps daughter SUSAN MARY/MARY SUSAN, age 14. Sarah and James are shown in Putnam Co in 1880, next door to Morris Carter and John Carter families. This could help tear down a roadblock of 30+ years. Thanks very much. Dick Carter rcar37@prodigy.net
Seeking any information on Edith CARTER, wife of Virgil WHITAKER, daughter of Sylvester Trent Carter.. Living at west edge of Stilesville, In., at time of death. Would like to talk to ANY descendant. I am trying to find out what happened to a picture that she had in her living room. Also, need vital stats. Birth, death etc on Edith. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dick Carter rcar37@prodigy.net
Just wanted to thank everyone who helped me with the VanLandingham crisis. I haven't been using the lists very long, and I still get a little confused about whether I'm replying to the list or to the person, so in case I missed anyone, THANK YOU!! I ended up with three new families and good clues on some more because Muriel, Donna, Marsha, Patti, Carol and Pat all came to my rescue! Thanks again, Lisa
I am interested in any information regarding Lucy Ann Chastain McGinnis. She was the daughter of Levi & Louisa Martin Chastain. She evidently was married when the rest of the family moved to Decatur County, IA. She married John B. McGinnis Nov 16, 1848, the rest of her family moved to IA in about 1855. I have very little information on her only mention of her in Levi's will and she is mentioned on a tombstone in the Chastain Cemetery in Decatur County, IA of Levi and Louisa. Judy

I recently found my g'g'grandfather in the 1900 Putnam county Census (Cloverdale township). His name was William Fowler and was age 23 at the time. I expected to find him living alone or possibly with his first wife, but instead, I found him living with some people I had never heard of before. Head of household is listed as MOSES VALANDRINGHAM, b. 1841 (age 59), married 9 yrs., b. IN, parents b. KY, farmer. His wife's name was Josie, she was 33, had 2 of 4 children living, and she and both her parents were born in IN. They had two children, David and Lizzie, ages 5 and 3. William Fowler is listed as their nephew, and unmarried. Unless the look-up person just forgot to include it, no occupation is noted. I've been working on my family tree for two years and have never seen this surname before. I tried looking in other Census years and on message boards, etc. and found this name NO WHERE! I had to assume it was misspelled, and started searching under things like VAN LANDINGHAM, VALANDIGHAM, and I even found VALLANDIGHAM and VALLANDRINGHAM, but there's no sign of Moses or Josie anywhere! Does anyone on the list know who these people were, or recognize any of the names, or even have a suggestion for me as to where to look next? I've had a hard time finding William's parents' names, and finding out who this family was might help with that as well. Thanks---Lisa
I'm interested in communicating with anyone related to or acquainted with the Sperback family of Tippecanoe and Putnam Counties. Thanks! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Health - your guide to health and wellness http://health.yahoo.com
Oops! Forgot to mention that Alexander and Cynthia were married by Ebenezer Patrick. Does anyone know anything about him? Whether he was a clergyman or a JP? or whatever? Thanks.

Good morning, I'm looking for information on the family of Woodford Burk. He was b c 1838 and married Harriet E. Miller, daughter of Edward R. Miller and Mariah Jane Toney, in 1862 in Putnam Co., IN. I located the family in Clinton Twp., 1870 census, page 10: Sarah, age 7; John, age 6; Noah W., age 4; and Minnie, age 1. I had been given information that Harriet had died with MI, no date, no county--no identifying information. I was finally able to locate her. Ottawa Center Cemetery, Ottawa Co., MI. Harriet E. Burk, died 22 Jan 1880. Also there, Leland Burk, son of Woodford and Harriet, born 1878, died 04 Jan 1880. Other children of Woodford and Harriet, besides those named above, are the three who were mentioned in Edward R. Miller's will, written in June, 1901. He left property to Sanford Burk, Flora Boswell (wife of John H.) and the son of Clara Cox, deceased daughter of Harriet Miller Burk. If anyone out there can give me an idea of where to search for information on this family or can provide me with solid information on them, I would appreciate it. Thank you, Sharon Bryant
Do you have any information about any Gibson's or McNorton's who used to be in the Putnam area of Indiana. Thanks Patricia
For those of you who do not have high speed or full time web connection, I have put a copy of a book "Richard Wright, Sr. of Rowan County, North Carolina - Four Generations" on my web site. You can click on the link and download it. It is in RTF format so that no virus's can attach. You must have some version of microsoft word in your computer to use it. This will be updated infrequently, the web site is still contains the best data. I have placed a copy in the Rowan County, NC library. You may distribute any way you want, but please do so in it's entirety. All information may be used anyway you desire. All updates and corrections are appreciated. I have no connection to this organization. However, the bracelets are very similar to those worn by sone of us during the Vietnam era for the POW/MIAs. Check it out and follow your conscience. http://www.mercyband.org/ Sharon
