    1. Re: [INPUTNAM] MIGRATIONS
    2. Jim and Lisa Trump
    3. I found what I thought was a really odd coincidence when I started my family tree--lots and lots of people from Estill county, KY, and on both sides of the tree, people who were not related at the time (as far as I can tell). My g'grandfather came from there with his parents and siblings, his grandparents lived & died there, and everyone for about five generations before them as well. I knew about them and that they were all from Estill county, but that was on my mother's side. When I started on my father's side, I started finding more and more of them from Estill county--three more families total. I know lots of people from KY migrated northward, that's not out of the ordinary. But I've been wondering if there was a reason that all of these people specifically from Estill county, KY all ended up here, not just in IN, but specifically in Putnam county? They don't seem to have moved together, at the same time, but it was over a short period of time, all within maybe 5-8 yrs. They don't appear to have been related unless I'm missing something. They all came straight here except for one family that made a stop in Plainfield for a few years before moving on to Greencastle. What was going on in Putnam county around 1890-1910 that might've drawn them all here? I'm pretty sure that a couple of the men worked for the railroad in Estill county, but I don't know if that would have anything to do with the moves. I haven't been able to find out what kind of work they did after they got here. Any ideas anyone? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ida Garza" <IGarza@TrammellCrow.com> To: <INPUTNAM-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 20, 2002 2:24 PM Subject: [INPUTNAM] MIGRATION ROUTES > I have been researching Putnam county families, and find a similar situation > to the one Pat Obrist refers to. 3. Linda, It would be helpful to give timeframes for the individuals you want more information on. Also, please understand that birth and death records are not available until the early 1880s. They were not required by law until that time. Some of my lines come from Bath County, Kentucky - DAVIS, MCGAUGHEY, possibly MCGILL. I have thought if we could establish what families moved together, it would make the research a little easier as they often married within the family groups. This has held true for some of my other families who migrated from Ma, Vt, Ny, Pa seems a whole pack of them moved together for many years. Would it make sense to do some sort of Roll Call for the migration routes we know various families used?

    1. [INPUTNAM] Wilsons in Putnam Co., IN
    2. Cindy Foster
    3. Hi, I'm planning a Wilson family genealogy research trip to Putnam Co., IN next month. I'm a descendant of Samuel Wilson (1785-1841). I don't know who his wife is, but 3 of his children were Elihu (1811-1861), William B. (1813-1869) and Sally Ann (1814-1855) who married Robert Firman Stokes. I've never been to this area of Indiana, so could use some suggestions about how to best use my time. My research thus far shows many Wilsons were buried in Hebron and Fogey cemeteries. Where are these cemeteries? What condition are they in? How large are they? Is there a publication listing burials and locations? Is there a genealogy society with research material? Location? Hours? Finally, do you have any connection to this Wilson line? Thanks! Cindy Foster

The 1900 and 1910 censuses have Merrifield and Nettie in Gosport, Owen Co., IN. In addition Nettle's brother Murray Mallory is living with the couple. By 1920 Nettie is widowed; the census shows Nettie as head of the household with brother Murray still living there. I am seeking any additional information on this family. Thanks in advance.
