1. [INPUTNAM] RESPONSE TO PUTNAM COUNTY LAND RECORDS QUESTION
2. jtrump and all other list members: This is in response to messages from several people who wanted to know if anyone answered my property records query. The answer is yes, several kind souls did and I appreciate each and every one of them and I assume that not one of them would object to my sharing the info they provided--so here it is in a nutshell. The Federal Bureau of Land Management site is very useful and provides information about initial land purchases from the government. Their search engine is excellent. For instance, if you enter the first 3 or 4 letters of a surname plus the percent sign % you can look at similar names, but with many different spellings at one time. I found this very useful because of the various ways my surname has been spelled, i.e. different vowels in different places within the name. Warning, I just tried to access the site and couldn't. Evidently it was too busy, because the following address worked yesterday. Just click on the blue and select the "launch" option to get to the site. Home - BLM GLO Records Also I received a message from a nice person at the Putnam County Library's Cyril Johnson Genealogy Room who told me that if a record exists it will be in the library. Further, this nice person told me that the old record books are now being cataloged. What a wonderful service. Thanks again to every one who responded to my query. Nell

1. [INPUTNAM] Alexander Wilson Sr.
2. Hi Cindy and others on the list. Regards your query on Alexander Wilson Sr., a number of my relatives and ancestors have looked for years and have never determined the names of his parents. He and his wife Sarah Lucas are my 3rd great grandparents on my Mother's side of the family. To date, no one knows if he had any siblings, so I cannot be of much help there. I do know that they were in Indiana by around 1825. The late Jack Wilson of Greencastle, IN, had assembled a very comprehensive tree on the Wilsons, and it is on the Family Tree Maker CD #12, which I have. I checked there as well for your names, to no avail. Best of luck, Richard Kearns CA

1. [INPUTNAM] THANKS!
2. Jim and Lisa Trump
3. Thanks to everyone who wrote back! I have to say, I'm on a couple of other lists like this one, and often I'll pose a question or ask for a look-up, and not hear from anyone until the second or third posting of it, if at all. On this list, a dozen people or more answered my questions and offered their help within 24 hours!

1. [INPUTNAM] Alexander Wilson, Sr.
2. Cindy Foster
3. Does anyone know who were the parents of Alexander Wilson Sr? While in Putnam Co a copy weeks back we found many references to this man, who was born in the late 1700s in KY I believe. We were researching three brothers: Samuel, Thomas and John, who came to Putnam Co from Fleming Co., KY about 1826. These men had a brother named Alexander, who is mentioned in their father William Wilson's will (1814). But I have found no other information about him. I'm wondering if the Alexander Wilson in Putnam Co is their brother. Cindy P.S. Thanks to everyone on the list who made suggestions and recommendations for our visit to Putnam Co. We discovered a great deal of information during our visit.

1. [INPUTNAM] Forest Hill Cemetery
2. Jim and Lisa Trump
3. Can anyone tell me if there's an online list somewhere for Forest Hill? Between the Putnam county archives site and the Putnam INGenWeb site, I have found every cemetery but that one. I have several ancestors who are buried there but I don't know WHERE exactly, and several more who don't seem to be buried anywhere else in Putnam co., so I think they MUST be there! I didn't realize Forest Hill had grown so big, and I've walked all over it without finding any of the people I was looking for (not even any of the ones I KNOW are there). If there's no list on the Internet, could someone advise me on where to send my questions? Would I just mail it to Caretaker, Forest Hill Cemetery? Could this be done over the phone? I hate to just show up unannounced and ask for help when they might be busy with other things. Thanks for any help! Lisa

1. [INPUTNAM] Re: PITTMAN/NUTTERFIELD Divorce
2. Richard Carter
3. Seeking record of divorce of Andrew PITTMAN and Eliza/Elizabeth NUTTERFEE/NUTTERFIELD, between 1822 and 1830... They were married 5-23-1822, in Nelson Co., Ky., when Eliza was almost 12 yrs old...(They perhaps had 4 children) I know that some time between then and 1833, they were apparently divorced, as Andrew remarried Millie Zimmerman, 7-31-1837. Also, before 1833, Eliza remarried to a John CARTER Jr, (and proceeded to have a total of 13 children) and moved to Owen County Indiana... Any help appreciated. 1. [INPUTNAM] MOORE
2. Marsha McWilliams
3. I'm researching a Samuel W. Moore who was born in 1845 in Ohio (probably Jefferson Co.) I'm fairly certain he was living in Putnam Co when he entered the Civil War (Co. B31, Indiana Infantry.) After the war, he married Priscilla Sanders in Greene Co, IN and apparently moved there. By 1873 they had migrated on to Macon Co, IL. Is there anyone who is researching the Moores of Putnam Co who may have this Samuel? I have no clue as to who his parents may have been. Thanks. Marsha IL
