This message is to let listers know about a tombstone restoration workshop that will be held on Saturday, May 22nd, from 9-3, at Mt Olivet Cemetery south of the village of Catlin in Florida Twp, Parke Co IN. Helen Wildermuth of Stonehugger Cemetery Restoration and Mark Davis of Stonesaver Cemetery Restoration will be instructors for the on-site workshop. No registration, just come to learn current best practice repair techniques. Directional signs will start on the southwest corner of the square in Rockville. Mt Olivet is located on the Rockville-Rosedale Road (Market Street). It is not hard to find, just keep going down the road through Catlin. The workshop is part of an on-going restoration at Mt Olivet Cemetery, where 30 tombstones will be repaired during the last two weeks in May. The Parke County Community Foundation provided the majority of the funding for this project as a grant to reward volunteer efforts in the county. Participants to this free workshop should bring sack lunches and drinks. Bug spray and sun screen is advised. Questions? Sharon Mills, Secretary Mt Olivet Cemetery Association
I am trying to locate some information on my great grampa. His name was John Paul Tucker. I think he actaully may have gone by Paul. He lived from May 17, 1880 (born in KS) to November 9, 1941 according to the family bible I have. His folks were Hibbard Austin Tucker and Gertrude Agnes Little. John/Paul's wife was Cora Anna Austin (1879-1948). They were married in Greencastle Feb 5, 1900. In one way or another, they had 3 kids that I know of, Helen Ione (born 1902) and Donald Austin (born 1907). The third child was listed in the family bible, but I have found her with both John Paul and his mom in the census records, so I don't know who she really "belongs" to. Her name was Frances Walton, born 1897. The only other info I have on Cora is that her folks were born in England and CT. Cora died in Greencastle. The bible says that John Paul died in Hinsdale, IL, but trying to find any info from there has been useless. They have no record of an obit or the like. I realize that there are/were a bunch of Tucker's in the area at the time. I am hoping against hope that your Tucker's might be related to my Tucker's. My grampa (Donald Austin Tucker) and my mom (Dorothy Winifred Tucker) spent the majority of their lives in Greencastle, so there has to be something on the family there. I just haven't been able to find it yet. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Search - Find what youre looking for faster.

Hello list , I am sending this note to ask for volunteers who might have a little extra time in there month to do a lookup for someone in whatever area you like . If you have at home resources this would be a great gift to share . I volunteer on RAOGK to do lookups for people . This is a great resource . Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness -- Volunteers Around the World . We cant all travel , all year long to do research . While I do volunteer to do lookups , I still like to reimburse others for their time & costs even though I have not had anyone even ask for recompense for their help-- these people are just so awesome to help like this . Since RAOGK has volunteers all over the world you can see what a great resource this is so lets all help each other & volunteer to do lookups in our area of expertise . You can do this at youre convienience . I try to answer as they come in and not restrict myself to one a month . As long as I dont get bombarded with too many , I usually get them answered pretty fast . BENTON COUNTY , MISSOURI JOHNSON COUNTY , MISSOURI HENRY COUNTY , MISSOURI could use another volunteer for maybe OBIT lookups SHELBY COUNTY , TENNESSEE --> need some more here also ONONDAGA , NEW YORK - have one person signed on for this area I could go on ... If you would like help with tracing youre family tree then please remember it is always appreciated when someone returns a kindness AND if you have a resource you can share and a little extra time to do it -- then consider signing up at RAOGK . The more we give the more we get in return :) Please feel free to pass this on to other lists and get the word out . We need more volunteers . Crystal Richards not on staff -- just a volunteer putting a bug in youre ear :)

Would you believe it is Whitaker Funeral Home? Charlie Whitaker knows quite a bit about Cloverdale history though he is semi-retired and his son Johnny Joe Whitaker is now in charge. Good Luck! Debbie, In reference to MABLE (spelling from cemetery) WHITAKER, she is buried in section 3 of the Cloverdale cemetery. Your dates are correct--but only the years are listed. However, you may be able to find records from the funeral home right there on the property. I am not sure of the name but have found records for my ancestors buried in same cemetery. Sorry I can't state the name of the funeral home--my mind tells me it is the Reed funeral home. Can someone else help with that? Hope this helps some. Becky

Thank you Priscilla for lookiing up Fred McNabb for me. I never expected to find him in Colorado! Would you or someone else please look for Fred's sons by his first wife? I thought that at least two of them would be listed with him in this census, but they weren't. Could you please check the 1910 census for their names? Perhaps they moved in with relatives after their mother died. Their names were: Fred McNabb- he should be around 19 or so. Leo McNabb - he should be around 17 Ethan McNabb- he should be about 12 Also, can anyone tell me if there is a John O. McNabb and Wife Elmira in Danville, Il in 1910? He was born in Pennsylvania, I'm not sure where she was born. Thanks for any help you can offer. It is very much appreciated. If I can ever return the favor, I'd be glad to. Hi, I have a request. Would someone be able to look up an obituary for me? My grandfather's adopted sister, Lulu (or Lula) Mabel (or Maybell) Riddle (birth name) McNabb (adopted name) Whitaker. She married Alton B. Whitaker. She lived in Cloverdale Twp, in Putnam County. The information I have says she died 13 Aug 1931. She was born in September of 1905. I live a couple hundred miles away, and would really appreciate the help. If I can return the favor, I would certainly be happy to do so. Thank you for any help you can offer. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Prof. Alma HOLMAN taken at the R.T. Jones Studio in Greencastle, Indiana. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's or 1880's with Alma appearing to be in her teens or 20's at the time. In addition to this photograph I also obtained a photo card of a group of students taken by the J.W. HUSHER Studio in Greencastle, IN. The photograph of the students is noted on the back as "Views of Preps". I have no idea what school they are connected with but I'm assuming it could be either the school Alma attended or since she is referred to as "Professor" it could be a school at which she taught. Based on limited research I believe that this may be a photograph of Alma F. HOLMAN b. 1861 at Putnam Co. Indiana to parents Jesse HOMAN (b. 1835 at Putnam Co. to parents Mark HOMAN & Nancy BURSON) and Elizabeth Minerva WILSON (b. 1839 at Putnam Co.). Alma's siblings included Gracia E.; Fred W.; Carrie M.; Ralph W.; Elsie G.; Thomas B.; and Lucy I. HOLMAN all b. in Putnam Co. I'm hoping to locate someone from her family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
Looking for William BALDWIN b. ca1847 Owen or Putnam Co. IN. Last child of John BALDWIN b.1797 Anne Arundel Co.MD and Elizabeth THOMAS b. 1807 VA. They resided in Montogomery Co.IN up until the 1870 census, living in Union Twp, Crawfordsville, IN. Both parents seemed to have most likely died bef the 1880 census as I can find neither of them. I can not find their son William either. Would anyone have any information about this William BALDWIN? A possible marriage in Mont. Co. or surrounding ones, possibly Boone or Putnam as he has siblings living in each. I have not found him living with any of his siblings. Does anyone know of any epidemic that might have happend between the years 1870-80 in that area of IN? Maybe he and his parents all died during that time frame? Any information is welcome. thanks, N.J.Skinner White [email protected] My Family Tree Page "Remember the days of old; consider the generations long past." (Deuteronomy 32:7a)
