Sorry -- I forgot to mention - One MUST make sure - if you dont want the service - make sure you send an e-mail - or call & get a confirmation number of CANCELLATION . There is also NO refund after 7 days from the time youre account is charged for their service . I changed my credit card number over a month ago & figured I wouldnt have to bother with calling ancestry about cancelling the subscription but --> they still forced the charge through at my credit card company . I did not know that -- so I am stuck with another years charge on my account . Since I do not like the new format - I am not happy about this at all . Oh well - ripped off again sheri
about --> TOS which most people DONT read in its entirety . I know about the automatic renewal thing & we have to call or send an e-mail to cancel . Try calling the 1-800 # . I called the # to cancel 4 times . Each time I was put on hold for a long time . Got aggravated & hung up . I called the # to order the service & they answered right away :0 . OK - I called back to cancel & waited a half an hour . I called my credit card company & was informed that even if I change my card number OR cancel my credit card out entirely --> this ancestry.com company can STILL force their charge to be paid by the credit card company & we will STILL get billed for the charge even after the account is closed . Now I am wondering what other things are being written into these TOS things that we are agreeing to & most are not reading in its entirety -- scary thing indeed ! Well -- no more credit card numbers are going to any on-line service from me ! Now --> I know some of you are ok with this method of transacting buisness --- this letter is for those of you who dont know this is in TOS and wont be allright with it . sheri

Jenny, Can you share more information such as the township/page in the 1860 Putnam County census you found your Joseph and Mary Denny? The only Joseph and Mary Denny I could bring up (and knew of) was for Joseph age 70 with Mary 68 and Harvey. I can speak to this Joseph and Mary: Joseph was s/o Robert and Rachel (Thomas) Denny and he married Mary Finley. The Harvey in the census was one of their 12 children. I checked the cemetery entries for Denny that I have and there was not a Joseph and Mary Denny other than the couple mentioned above who were buried in the Deer Creek Cemetery, Putnam County. I also checked the "H" index that I had (for another line) and I found no Hague. My data is certainly not complete but it is representative of the cemetery listings on the Putnam County, Indiana website. If you can provide more details on your Joseph and Mary (Hague) Denny it will give Denny researchers more to work with in checking our/their records. More details such as the approximate year of birth, place, any known children, etc. Best regards, Vicky -------------- Original message -------------- > I'm looking for help on Joshua Denny and Mary Hague. I'm looking for help on Joshua Denny and Mary Hague. They were married in Putnam Co., IN on 5 Apr 1853 and were in the 1860 Putnam co., IN census. Does anyone know who their parents are? Does anyone know where they are buried? I looked on the Putnam Co., web page and couldn't find them in any of the cemeteries. A lot of the links don't work for D names for the other vital records on that page which is kind of a bummer. If anyone can help, please let me know! Thanks so much Jenny Barton
Media Elizabeth MORRIS, b. 1896 Illinois. Vigo County Indiana marriage record to Rice CURTIS in Jan. 1915 shows her parents as George B. MORRIS and D. MATHERLY of Greencastle. Before the end of 1915, Elizabeth and Rice became the parents of a female baby in Putnam County. Appears that Elizabeth and Rice were divorced 1919. Hoping to locate any information on this Morris family including her baby. Thanks, Cathy

The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, April 27, 1905 MRS. JANE RATCLIFFE died at her home in Des Moines on Friday evening, April 21, 1905, after an extended illness with creeping paralysis. Deceased was a a former resident of Cedar Township, this county. The remains were brought to this place Saturday evening, accompanied by her cousin, MRS. SALLIE SALES, and on Sunday forenoon at 10 o'clock funeral services were held at Bethel Church. JANE SELLERS was born in Putnam County, Indiana, on September 5, 1846. Several years of her life were spent in this county and she was married here on April 8, 1895, to JONATHAN RATCLIFFE, who survives her but is in a very critical condition, suffering with a cancer. After her marriage deceased resided in Garden Grove until about a year ago when she and her husband moved to Des Moines where they could have better medical treatment. MRS. RATCLIFFE also leaves five brothers and one sister to mourn her death. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of a host of friends throughout the county in their great grief. Deceased was a lady possessing many amiable qualities and her kindness of heart won for her the high regard of all with whom she came in contact. The news of her death brought sadness to the hearts of many friends here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert August 18, 2004 http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialucas/Main.htm posted at this site with Nancee's permission I have no connection to this family, just wanted to share Deborah

Hello List, Would like information on the Mary Emma Jones School....I have a class picture made in December 1940....my father is in the picture. I am sorry I do not know anyone else in the picture and have no way of finding out. If you think that you might know someone I will share it with you. My father was in the Allison Home during the 40's so I am assuming the school would have been close to there. Any information about the school or the home would be great. Thank You Deb Cooper Indiana

Monroe's wife's name is Sarah....their sons George Frank b. 1885, and Melvin Fay b. 1893. I am researching Indiana Senter families and would appreciate anything anyone could contribute. In 1900, they were in Washington twp. On Melvin Fay's WWI draft registration card, he writes that he is an invalid and not employed. He was born in Reelsville IN, and in 1917 when he filled out this card, he lived in Poland, IN. George Frank married Anna Louise Chew in 1908. Their children were Robert, Helen, and Mary Katherine. Many times his name is listed as Frank G. On his WWI draft registration card from 1918, he lived in Clay co., Brazil. Again, anything about Indiana Senter or Senters families anyone can tell me will be most welcome. Marilyn Craig [email protected]
What would really be great would be if everything that has been submitted were correct and documented. From the Association of Professinal Genealogists mailing list; posted by Joan Young, list administrator. APG Mailing List, The Association of Professional Genealogists http://www.apgen.org/publications/apg-l/index.html What is being SOLD is a subscription to an advanced search feature that will match data from the free (still free) family trees and that found in other pay databases and census records at Ancestry and present it to the subscriber in a neatly stitched together package -- taking the work out of the searching and matching for him. What is being SOLD is CONVENIENCE and not the trees. The trees are still free to submit and free to search and match using the same tools that have always been part of the program. Nothing has changed in that regard. If I'm upset about anything connected to OWT it is the fact that it was introduced in a "stealth mode" which always tends to make the users suspicious and causes them to come up with "conspiracy theories" and plots of evil intentions. That leaves people who admin RootsWeb mailing lists left with the chore of digging out the truth (which I've done) and trying to fight off all the incorrect and inflamatory "rumors" the nay-sayers are posting to the lists before we can head off the problem. This puts an unfair burden on the list admins to seek out and provide information that should have been forthcoming directly from Ancestry when the program was launched. I have no problem with the program itself in its present form (although I suspect it will appeal more to Newbies who want "instant trees" than to seasoned genealogists), but I sure wish it had been introduced in a more forthcoming manner providing the "positive spin" and assurances to the users that a program like this needs. They will never get mine. It is messed as it is (by whoever put it on there).. I am sure it could be worse with their editing dept. in the picture... plus I don't want to pay for my own info.. Ellie
I'm forwarding this message because I feel that some of you may have uploaded your family trees to the Ancestry.com databases.
