Just wanted to say that my comments about the records and the index were not intended as a reflection on the people in the courthouse. Records were often lost during the 1800's and the people in the courthouse did not compile this index. In some cases property just went to the wife or children without a formal Probate taking place. I have the Probate Index to Putnam County ca. 1850 to 1880. Apparently they didn't keep good records or the index isn't complete. There were no records listed for any of the Bakers that died there, most of whom owned property according to census records. There is no one named Baker in the index. I have just completed a recent update to my website adding 2,129 relatives which include 1,124 direct descendants of Richard Wright, Sr. The reason it took so long is that i had some database problems. Looks like i fixed them all, but I would SURE appreciate it if you would look at your areas of interest. The problem is not with the data, but with relationships, husband, wife and children. I completed going thru all the census from 1850 to1930 for John Wright/Nancy Gilstrap & William Wright/ Martha Morgan descendants, where applicable. I did Richard Wright, Jr. last time. I also added David York/Rebecca Gilstrap, John Sears/Catherine Conrad, Mary Sears/Michael Sappenfield (Satterfield), Joseph Shull/Sarah Wright, descendants. I have updated the 4 generation document. I will be attending the Midwestern Roots conference in Indianapolis Aug 19 and 20. If you would like to meet and discuss anything, let me know. (pretty sure this is John S. a son of Levi) Whitted, Levi 1825 -- 1892 Whitted, Margaret 1820--1900 (Wife of Levi, Stringer is her maiden name) Whitted, Levi Co. K. 51st Ind. There are also Anderson & Miller persons buried in this cemetery that are somewhat connected to the Whitted/Whitehead line. Does anyone know if the markers in this cemetery are still visible? I have never visited it, not sure I can find it. I have recently found out that these Whitteds so connect to my Dad's Mother. I have talked to another cousin who fears the cemetery is in disrepair. Does anyone know how to contact the county trustees in Putnam County? Thank you, Mary Lou Hazelrigg
