The books used in the index were the Will Book and Probate Book. When no book name is given, it's the Will Book. A few do say "Probate Book" and I've been noting that. If you send for a record, you should tell them which book. Jim . . James R. Baker, Jr. (jrbakerjr) Free Genealogy Databases http://www.jrbakerjr.com . .

Thank you for your efforts, Mr. Baker. Would you look up Gray / Grey? Thank you! Jim has been so generous in offering lookups that I'd like to do the same. I have "Putnam County, Indiana Early Marriage Records 1822 to 1837." I'll do lookups. There has been so much interest in the probate index that Jim Baker has used in the last few days to do lookups that I decided to start a Wills/Estates page on the Putnam Co. website. So if you have a copy of a will for an individual who died in Putnam Co. I will post it to the website if you will do the following. 1. Type it in the body of an email. 2. Include the Book and page number for reference purposes 3. Include your name and city, state address. That way I can give you credit for having submit the will/estate record. I am in the process of going through my database and will start by including anything I might have access to for this webpage. Mark the subject line: Putnam County will/estate Thanks, Sharon Bryant INPutnam GenWeb coordinator INPUTNAM-L coordinator
I've been doing these lookups and sending the answers to the list so everyone could see the requests and answers. Several people have already told me they had found previously unknown cousins because they found someone else asking for a lookup on their ancestors. Apparently one person objects to getting the messages. I've received several of these messages from this person so I'll start answering the requests privately. Jim . . James R.
