Late in his life Charles Peter Ames Sr. was a farmer and County Judge in Marion Co., TX. He had married Harriett Potter in 1842 in Texas. They had 6 children before his death in 1865. 3. Greetings, For the past few years we have been working an on extensive website with history of Primitive Baptist Churches, county by county, in over thirty states, mostly in the midwest, but including some information for states across the northern tier of America. For some of these states we have only sketchy information, but for others (such as Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Iowa) we have a fair amount of detailed information. We have tried to locate and obtain church records, and have entered the names of members into a database, and have also put the surnames of the members on our website for each church, county by county. We began working on our database in 1986, and it presently has over 53,000 entries, and we are adding to it all the time as we find more church records. We have been trying to assist genealogists in locating ancestors ever since we organized our library in 1988. To view our website, go to the following URL: http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html To go directly to the index of states included in our research (including Indiana), go to http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/Index.html We are posting this message on the county forums for those counties in Indiana in which the Danville Regular Baptist Association churches exist or have existed, and we would be grateful if anyone can help us locate any of the annual minutes of that association which we lack, or any of the records of the churches which composed the association. Some of the names of these churches include Abner's Creek (records located), Big White Lick Creek (records located), Eagle Creek, Union, Providence, Thorntown, Mt. Tabor, Clear Creek, Cynthiana, Antioch, Little Flock, and many more. We have very limited volunteer staff, but will do our best to respond as time permits. Sincerely, Elder Robert Webb The Primitive Baptist Library 416 Main Street Carthage, IL 62321

    1. Woodall and Halfhill
    2. Hi, I meant to reply to your post some time ago, but just now getting around to it. I have no direct connection to the WOODALL family, only a collateral one, but thought we might each benefit from some tidbit the other might have. I am trying to locate more info on a Rachel RILEY b ca 1841 in OH (d aft 1891) who was married to James WOODALL b ca 1832 in IND. Rachel was the daughter of George RILEY and Mary "Polly" SHOEMAKER, who both died in OH. However, Mary's widowed sister and Rachel's aunt, Sarah SHOEMAKER HALFHILL also turned up in Putnam Co. She was b 6 Oct 1805 in PA and died 18 May 1892 in Putnam Co, buried at Salem Cem in Cloverdale. I don't find either James or Rachel in any of the cemetery listings in Putnam Co, nor in the 1900 census. Would be great to hear from anyone with info on any of these folks. Tacy

    1. Wilson-Tarvin family
    2. Sharon Bryant
    3. Hello, I'm looking for information on Green Wilson and Ann Stanton C. Tarvin who were married in Putnam Co. in 1838. There is a possibility that his name was David Green Wilson. Apparently he died or they divorced before Aug 1841 as I found a subsequent marriage for her in Vigo Co. to a Drewey Graves in that month/year. I was unable to find a Green Wilson in the 1840 census but did find a David Wilson (the name was given to me) in Washington Twp., Putnam Co. There were three children under the age of 5 listed in that household. I cannot find anything on Drewery Graves, Ann Stanton (Tarvin) (Wilson) Graves in the 1850 census anywhere! Does anyone have any information on these people? Thank you, Sharon

    2. Robert L Webb
    3. Nell, Going through the minutes of Eel River association I have (which is only a few), this morning, I entered into my database more of the names of messengers from the various churches. I noticed that there was a B. Bastin from Mill Creek church in Putnam Co. You are probably aware already but thought I would mention it. Also, the eleven members dismissed by letter in March 1830 became members of the Mill Creek church in Putnam Co. which was evidently organized at that time. Also noticed a Joe Allee who was a minister at Deer Creek at one point in time (later). (I mention this for the sake of Hazel Allee Burns). Also found C. Buis in Mill Creek church, besides Deer Creek. Thanks to Sharon Bryant for the obit for Mr. Hurst. Sincerely, Robert On Thu, 25 Aug 2005 10:45:35 EDT [email protected] writes: Robert: I am the one who transcribed the Deer Creek Baptist records and I transcribed everything I received. Dora Mae Turner, the dear lady who passed these documents on to me, does not recall where they came from. The following is an excerpt from one of Dora Mae's latest e-mail messages: "I've had those minutes for so long, I honestly can't remember who sent them to me, but imagine it was Carolyn Yancey (Little) Kent who lives in AR. She had done much research years ago and shared it with me." Robert, since my early relatives seem to have all been Baptists, I am very interested in your web site. My 3rd g. grandparents Thomas and Hannah Brockman Bastin were members of the Lick Fork Baptist Church of Rockingham County, N.C. c. 1790/1817. I have a few excerpts from the minutes of that church which I will be glad to share if you are interested. My great grandparents James and Catherine Keith Langwill were members of the Omaha Baptist Church in Omaha, Arkansas, for about 30 years prior to the death of James in 1915. I have quite a lot of those records and I found that my Langwell family usually was in some kind of trouble with the church. Always had a committee going out there to straighten them out. There is a lot more info in the Arkansas church records than those of the church in Indiana or the one in N.C. although there are some interesting tidbits in the N.C. minutes. Again, my relatives acting out. Nell Langwell Gronberg
