Jan, I just ordered the land books for both Putnam and Morgan Counties, I sent an email yesterday to you about possibly having you scan and email me copies from Putnam. Since I sent for the books, I won't need the copies. I didn't want you to have to take the time to scan and send since I ordered the books and will have the land plats. Thanks for the offer of sending copies. Jan, I would like a copy also. Thanks. David Burns [email protected]
Hi Jan, Thank you so much - you did not know it but you also sent me the land patent for Barney Russell - he is in section 12 - 2 pieces of ground - directly across from James Poyner - and they both bought land in 1838 - I am sure they knew each other. This Barney Russell is Barnabas C. Russell, b 1777 in NC, married an unknown lady - them married Mary McCloud in 1815, she lived in Putnam County but the were apparently married in NC - This Barnabas C. Russell was the father of my gggrandfather, Barney Russell, b 1805, probably in Clay County, KY as that is where Barnabas C. was living at that time. Barney Russell b 1805 also married an unknown lady in KY and they were the parents of my ggrandfather John W. Russell. He was plain John Russell but may have added the W. to differentiate himself from all the other John Russells. If you get to it one of these days maybe you can locate this Barney Russell b 1805, son of Barnabas C. He also owned land in Putnam County. And thanks again, I truly appreciate it, especially since you had such a hard time getting this to me. I have fought similar computer problems til I was so exasperated that I could have smacked the thing with a baseball bat. (: Shirley
Thanks.. Ellie Stites Swanger
Today I talked with the wife of George Boyd, compiler of these land patents.. He is putting out about one book per week. His wife and in-laws are helping.. Mrs. Boyd told me that there is an online index for each book, so a person can scan the index before ordering a book. Here is the website.. _http://www.arphax.com/surnames/Arphax_Surnames_Putnam_IN.pdf_ (http://www.arphax.com/surnames/Arphax_Surnames_Putnam_IN.pdf) I did order one for Putnam Co. IN.. My best, Ellie Stites Swanger
I am interested in Hodges/Hodge, Myers, and John Smith. Thank you for anything you might be able to find for me. Phoebe Pantier Bush
Okay, ds temporarily disabled the virus scan so these suckers could go. The originals should have theirs. I'm going to the genealogy library tomorrow and I'll try to find everyone else's. Then I'll figure out how to get them out of here too. You original 3 let me know if you still didn't get them. Jan who knew there was away around this in OK

Jan, Yes I would like to have a copy of it please. Sheila Jan Patterson <[email protected]> wrote: The following people should have received their maps by now if not please let me know. Hi Jan, I understand how difficult a virus scanner can make one's life - I know mine does from time to time. I received a map - pg 88 - but can find no Poyner or Love in it. Don't worry about it right now, take your time and then let me know if I am going blind or what? And thank you for trying so hard. Shirley
Jan, You're so kind to do this! I'd love to get a copy of a map from your book for my ancestors. Do you have anything on Benjamin P. King or John King? How about Perminda Leatherman? Her father was John Leatherman. The Kings and Leathermans were both from Madison Twp., Putnam Co. Thank you! Lisa Larimore [email protected]
No they are on page 89 the one I can't get out of here. Ds gets off work at 8 so maybe he can figure it out when he gets home. Jan who says it figures that page would be the only one to get through in OK Shirley wrote: > Hi Jan, > > I understand how difficult a virus scanner can make one's life - > I know mine does from time to time. > > I received a map - pg 88 - but can find no Poyner or Love in it. > Don't worry about it right now, take your time and then let me > know if I am going blind or what? Thanks for all your information on the book - will try to find one. That would sure help locate some of the ones I'm looking for and maybe tie in the families they married into. Thanks Mary
I'll have to wait until dh or ds is home before I can send the rest of the attachments sorry guys. Jan who is very frustrated at this point in OK
Okay, after I said I sent those emails I discovered my virus scan had blocked them because I stupidly used the same name for each segment. I've resent them with various subject lines. So if you see something from [email protected] that is your land patent maps and they hve been thorougly scanned for viruses. LOL! Jan who didn't think sending out so few would cause the machine to get so huffy in OK

I'd love a map that has any surname GORDON or DARNALL on it. My Gordons were some of the very first settlers in Putnam Co. Judy Gordon [email protected]
I guess I should have put down a surname to see if they are in the Land Patent Book, It would be William Stanley Hairrison Tuttle, I think the property is still in the family ,I belive one of his Great Grand daughters lives there, Also One of my Cousins lives there in Putnam , Any help or look up would be greatly appreciated. Hi, I am kinda new to the list, I have been subscribed a few months but have not posted much, This of Putnam Indiana from what Era is it? I have ancestors from this area and one of the properties is still in the family, I was wondering if the map was for just specific surnames or would it help in other ways also. I would love a copy if it will help to know the area geographically ,I hope I made since?? Bye 4 now, Thank You for any help.
