Although NOT from the books being sold, I have some Plat maps I can point to as examples http://www.rootsweb.com/~inmontgo/twsp/platbook/waveland-plat.jpg [email protected] wrote: > Morning, > Sorry to be so confusing--I guess I really don't know what I am asking LOL > I wenbt to the site you had posted that said Family Maps of Putnam Co. and > checked the surname list and saw a couple of the family names Owens - Tucker - > Swinford - Reed - on page 6 of the surname list. Hi Mary, You can actually look up the land grants on the blm website: http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch/ Type in your last name. For example, if you put Swinford into the search box you will get the following: View Image Patentee Name State County Issue Date Land Office Doc. Nr. Accession/Serial Nr. SWINFORD, GEORGE W IN Miami 4/10/1849 Winamac 18035 IN1940__.231 SWINFORD, JOHN IN Putnam 3/30/1837 Crawfordsville 26506 IN1400__.183 SWINFORD, JOHN IN Putnam 5/15/1837 Crawfordsville 27932 IN3180__.083 SWINFORD, SAMUEL IN Vigo 8/1/1837 Vincennes 10765 IN2040__.189 SWINFORD, WILLIAM IN Putnam 3/20/1837 Crawfordsville 24307 IN1360__.008 SWINFORD, WILLIAM IN Putnam 4/5/1837 Crawfordsville 27786 IN3170__.442 SWINFORD, WILLIAM IN Vigo 10/23/1835 Vincennes 5614 IN0120__.071 SWINFORD, WILSON F IN Miami 4/10/1849 Winamac 18034 IN1940__.230 SWINFORD, WILSON F IN Miami 1/5/1850 Winamac 18929 IN1960__.112 What the author of this book has done is created maps of where all this land was located and who owned what. For example, if you are looking for John Swinford in Putnam Co., he was granted 40 acres at this location: The North East corner of the south east corner of Section 11, township 14n, range 5W in the 2nd perimter in Putnam Co., IN. This website will also show you how to look it up on a section, township, range map. I did this for all my ancestors to find out who all his neighbors were. Ginger
Morning, Sorry to be so confusing--I guess I really don't know what I am asking LOL I wenbt to the site you had posted that said Family Maps of Putnam Co. and checked the surname list and saw a couple of the family names Owens - Tucker - Swinford - Reed - on page 6 of the surname list. That was why the page 6. My main surname of Lee I couldn't find so am going to try the families who married into the Lee Family to see if I can get some leads. I wanted to get an idea of what the pages looked like so I could send for a book -- As you can see I really don't know what to ask for even tho I've been searching for over 40 years I am really new to all the new things the computer can do. Thanks so much for all your time consuming hard work and especially having sooooooooo much patience with someone like me. Please let me know also the cost so I can reimburse you for your cost for this. Mary in Alabama

Yes, I think we should all contribute something for Jan and her family to have a nice evening out to dinner! Judy

Ok. I've already put a return address sticker on all of the envelopes, but I can put something inside as well. I'm a bit confused. Do you mean group maps 5 & 6 or pages 5 & 6? There is a major difference, here are no maps on 5 and 6 the index for the first map doesn't even start until about page 60. Page 13 is the over all location of the group maps, which I am including in all packets I am putting together. I've got those to map groups here already and could include them in the massive printing I'm doing today if that is what you need. Do you need the index for those as well (it includes the legal description and whether or not they held patents in other counties on it). If so, what surnames please. As to years I have found listings as early as 1834 and as late as 1852 when looking them over. Let me know what you want exactly. Judy, I am wondering the same thing. Perhaps AOL has a problem with it? Rootsweb I mean? I get the emails as test messages.
