They adopted my father, James and his brother Clarence (whose real last name was Herndon), in the early part of the 1900's, probably between 1910 and 1920. James and Clarence went to high school in Rensalaer. James and Clarence were also in a plane crash on August 30, 1931, on their way to the Francesville area, from Lansing, Illinois. Clarence was killed in the crash. Yeppe died around 1932, and Martha died about 1963 at Ruff Nursing Home in Knox, Indiana.
