She died at 2:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, in Hickory Creek at Winamac. Born June 28, 1908, in Larkinsburg, Ill., she was the daughter of William and Martha Wright Cooley. She was married Sept. 5, 1922, in Niles, Mich., to John Hunter, who died Oct. 1, 1996. Mrs. Hunter was employed as a housekeeper. She was a charter member of Ripley Gospel Chapel, and was very active in the church, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She taught Bible club for youth in her home for many years. She was very active with Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago and volunteered many hours at the mission. Active in Good News Clubs in the area, she was a good neighbor who assisted as a midwife in many deliveries in the area. Surviving are one daughter, Viola Button, Winamac; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Two sons, Kenny Hunter and Ronald Eugene Hunter; one daughter, Mary Poor; two grandsons, Buster Poor and Tom Button; three granddaughters, Marilyn Button, Brenda Joyce Hunter and Donna Button; two great-great-grandchildren; and 14 brothers and sisters preceded in death. Pastor Carl Lendermon will officiate at the services. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
