Dusti ask about the "Civil" township covered by Township 30, R 2 West. I BELIEVE the difference between Civil townships and actual townships is that Civil townships are the ones determined by the township-range method. The Township-Range method of land description used in most of Indiana is best described on this site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~inkosciu/land/land.htm The website uses Kosciusko Co as a reference, but the information in the article applies to most of Indiana. The first map on this Kosciusko site illustrates the difference between "civil townships" and actual townships. Harrison and Wayne Twps have dotted lines running up and down which show one of the "civil townships." Civil townships follow the township-range method while townships as we know them today frequently have irregular boundaries. Going back to Pulaski Co, I'm GUESSING the civil township covered by Township 30, R 2 West would be the "original" Monroe Twp as shown in map illustrations 6, 7, and 8 of this message in the 2001 INPULASK archives: http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch2?/u1/textindices/I/INPULASK+2001+6691931+F Hopefully this is clear AND CAN SOMEONE VERIFY THIS.
