    1. Re: [INPULASK] Cemetery Question
    2. Barbara in CA, I thought it very interesting that today of all days you ask, "who is buried in the Wasson Cemetery in Winamac"...? The WASSON Cemetery is located about two miles south of Winamac, very close to the Tippecanoe River. It is in Harrison Township, Section 30, the West Central part. To get there you go south on US 35 and after crossing the bridge over the Tippecanoe, you will turn right on County Road 250 South, that will take you to an intersection which if I remember is the entrance to the cemetery. Now the reason I thought it interesting that you would bring Wasson Cemetery up today. The following is from the book "150 Years, Pulaski County Sesquicentennial" "WASSON (DEAD MAN'S HOLLOW)" "Wasson Cemetery, a long and narrow burial site, is located in the southwest area of the township (Harrison) near the community of cottages known as Dead Man's Hollow along the Tippecanoe River. Editor Ned Gorrell unearthed the facts and shared with his readers in 1968: "It has been 141 years since the sad incident which occurred May 3, 1848. JOHN TURNER, traversing this area of Harrison Township on his way from Monroe County to Starke (some say to LaPorte), was injured seriously when his team of horses became frightened and backed off a culvert, upsetting the heavily laden wagon. He died as a result of his injuries in a log cabin at the top of the hill, and was buried in Dead Man's Hollow which is the Wasson Cemetery in reality." An historical marker has been erected to indicate JOHN TURNER's final resting place." There is some obvious math errors above, in 1968 it was the 120th anniversary, and when the Book I referenced was written it was the 141st anniversary. Today is the 155th anniversary of JOHN TURNER's death. It seems JOHN TURNER from the home of Saints through Barbara of CA. wanted to be remembered today. Is there a sexton or county cemetery worker with knowledge of who is buried in the Wasson Cemetery in Winamac even if there is no marker? I am aware of an inventory taken I'm sure by gracious volunteers, I am looking for records kept by the cemetery itself.
