Not as many as the other cems in the county, but on occasion some are buried there. As for looking for someone buried in there, the Pulaski Co Library has a book that you can look in that has a listing of tombstones/burials. There is no active church/cemetery book-keeper to check with other then the library or the funeral home. Mary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. Fellow genealogists and anyone concerned with preserving our sacred cemeteries, The History Channel and Time Warner are sponsoring a 'Save Our History' grant award for which anyone can go online and cast their vote. Voting ends THIS FRIDAY April 27th, so time is short. We were fortunate that our restoration project was chosen as a finalist. The JCOGS is the only genealogy society or cemetery project to be chosen as one of the five finalists, so I truly hope that you will go to the Time Warner website and cast your vote for the James Cemetery project. If awarded this grant, we will use 100% of the grant to begin installing an antique-style aluminum alloy fence around the perimeter in order to help halt further desecration of this sacred and historic burial ground. You can read more about our James Cemetery project at the Time Warner 'Save Our History' voting website. Please unite with us as a group of genealogists concerned about the ever-increasing destruction of our cemeteries by VOTING for us at the website below. And note also that ANYONE with Internet access can VOTE so please forward this email to your genealogy circle of friends and ask THEM to vote too! They also have a boy listed as being born to them a few years before their baby girl, no name. I also checked the 1910 census and they aren't in the county anymore. Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.pulaski/358.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Cathy, You probably corresponded with my cousin Debora. Unfortunately she died about two years ago now. We researched our family history together. I recently was researching the children of Smith E. Davis, born abt. 1800 and died 29 Apr 1855 in Pulaski County, and Elizabeth, born Apr. 1805 in Delaware and died 12 Dec 1871 in Pulaski County, through all the census. I discovered that some of the children went to Tippecanoe County, IN and discovered another son Benjamin P. Davis there. In "Biographical Record and Portrait Album of Tippecanoe County, Indiana" I found a bio. of Benjamin's wife Christina, and discovered Benjamin was born in Delaware and a son of Smith Davis. In a bio. of James Cockrell, I found his wife, "Sarah Davis, a native of Logan County, Ohio, and a daughter of Smith and Elizabeth (Walker) Davis, natives of Maryland, who removed to Pulaski County, this state about 1846. Her father died there in 1855, and her mother in 1872." Both Tillman Hackett's wife Catherine and Smith E. Davis's wife Elizabeth have the same surname, Walker, and were from Delaware. Were Elizabeth and Catherine related, more than just by the marriage of their children Tillman Davis and Catherine Hackett? 1. [INPULASK] WARD
    2. Lena C.
    3. I just discovered that my Ward family lived in Pulaski County far longer than I thought. Is anyone else out there doing genealogy on the Ward family? My family includes William H. Ward who was married to Mary Personett in 1872 in Pulaski County. They had a son named George W. Ward who was married in Pulaski County in 1899. Looking at the marriage records I saw that there were other Ward marriages that occurred in Pulaski County in the 1870's. I have William's parents as being William and Tabitha (Holton) Ward, though the source that I got these names from was wrong on other counts and may be wrong on this as well. I'm hoping I might be able to find some of these other early marriages and connect them to William. What I have now: William Ward married 1) Hepsebeth Ellis, 11 Feb 1864 Blackford County, Indiana 2) Mary Personett, 27 Jan 1872 Pulaski County, Indiana There were 5 children: Jesse, Florence, Rosa, Perry and George. Four of them are shown on the 1880 census below. I was unable to find William and family in 1870 and in 1900 they were all separated, William was living with Jesse in Carroll County and I have been unable to locate the rest of the children (George was the only child who had a marriage record in Pulaski County, don't know what happened to the other kids). 1880 Census, Beaver Township, Pulaski County, Indiana William H. Author: gaylesphar Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.pulaski/328.2.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The above mentioned Fred Ray is actually two different people. Your great-grandfather, Frederick Albert Ray was born in February 1870 (not 1892). He was still single and living with his mother, Mary in Warren County, Indiana in 1910. He married Anna May (Breysacher) Pollom on September 15, 1911 in Warren County. In 1920, he and Anna were still married and living together with her son Herbert E. Pollom from her first marriage and their son Donald Albert Ray and her father, William Breysacher. (The census taker listed Don below his stepbrother without changing the surname which makes it appear that his last name was Pollom. However, Herbert is listed as Fred's stepson while Don is listed as his son, so I am confident this is the Don Ray.) Anna married her third husband, Morton 'Ed' Scarlett in July 1921 so it can be assumed that either Fred died or they divorced sometime between January 1920 and July 1921. Fred Ray's father, Lucas Ray (your great-great-grandfather) was a civil war veteran. He was in the 60th IN Infantry. His wife, Mary B. Ray, filed for a widow's pension in March 1899. Hope this helps.
