I had no idea of Lewis's sibling till you gave me the information yesterday that certainly looks like she was. I have gone thru several pages of census today to see who Charity may have moved in with after the death of her parents when Lewis went to live with his maternal grandparents, William and Catherine (Hewitt) Taylor. So far I've found nothing to that affect. I just talked to one of Lewis and Lillie's granddaughters in south Texas, (she will be 80 in June)to ask if her mother (Alta Mae) had ever shared memories of her parents...apparently not...no one seems to have shared any stories other than Alta Mae being born in the back of a conestoga wagon in Noland, Ark. during the move from IN. to OK. in 1901. Sorry I confused you...if I didn't have so many notes/pages of this stuff I would be pulling my hair out trying to sort it all! The confusing part of this is that I'm trying to do both my sides of my family as well as starting on my husband's side, too. I found a Lillie age 5 in Fulton Co. with siblings and parents, Anderson Daugherty, and mother's name looked like Margie, but I'm not sure. Both parents born in OH. This information is so good and unusual, too, as all this is on my paternal grandfather's side. The unusual part is that my paternal grandmother's maiden was Reckard and she and her family came to Okla. in 1906 when she was 3. Isn't this odd that there are Parker/Record and Parker/Reckard??? I also saw that John's name was spelled differently according to the document I was looking at...I have come across this several times. I'm fairly new to researching as I've only been able to do it doing the winter time as we have a custom hay cutting/baling business and no time in the summer to do this. My husband works long hours 4 days a week so I try to take advantage and stay on the computer a lot. Thanks so much for so much of your time on this...it certainly helps me. It's sad that this information was not shared in our families as we were growing up. I think life was so hard back then that no one wanted to talk about it. This makes Charity my ggrandfather's sister. My grandfather never spoke of his childhood or his parents and their families...I wonder now if they were not close? BUT this also means that Charity may have followed her brother to Okla. Her brother, Lewis Eldon, was involved with building brick streets and a city swimming pool in Geary, Blaine, Ok. as a young man. He lived for a short time in Hinton, Caddo, Ok. where my grandfather met and married my grandmother and both lived there until their deaths. This is good information, thank you for your help I find now, too, that I have misspelled Lillie May's last name...it should be Daugherty.
