Author: DuaneLarge Surnames: Wharton Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.indiana.counties.pulaski/2023/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Wharton's Art Studio in Winamac, Indiana. I have recently seen a couple of undated old photos of relatives from this photographer. I am trying to get a better idea when this business existed in Winamac so that I can approximate the date when these photos were taken. I suspect that the photos were probably taken sometime between the early 1880's and early 1900's based on the style of the photo. I checked the 1900 Pulaski County census and found 2 Whartons, John and his son Barton, both listed as "photographers". I believe that this business was owned by one or both of these men. If I knew the time frame when this business existed, that would help me narrow the date for these photos. Any information on Wharton's Art Studio would be appreciated. Thank you. I am doing research for a friend who is of the line of Archibald and Margaret's daughter, Susan Mary ALLEN, whom we are fairly sure married John Hicks WHEATLEY Oct 27, 1861 in Pulaski Co. IN. Their daughter, Margaret J. WHEATLEY (b.Oct 1862) married Francis/Frank M. DUBOIS. Margaret and Francis are my friend's great-grandparents. Would love to hear about your quest... Yet, Pulaski County birth records (book H-3, page 97) say that a daughter was born to George Rush and Rebecca Long on July 17, 1904. That daughter, plus the twins born in 1906, could be the three children Rebecca lists as having had by the 1910 census. Are you sure there was another daughter born in 1909? I really don't know how to start telling you about this. I am looking for a picture of your grandfather's sister in law, Virginia Smith Chestnut. I have all the necessary sources to show her as the mother of a dear friend of mine. He does not know what his mother looked like. His search took me over a year to finish. If you would like to email me ([email protected]) I could tell you more and I would be so thankful to you if you could send me a picture of some of your family. The man is 71 years old now and all he wants is a picture of his family. I have his birth record from the hospital in Hartford MI the Borgess Hospital on 11 Oct 1936. He was named Paul Smith. thank you so much, Bev Scott-Kendall Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. While I don't believe that my German Topp family who immigrated to Monon in the late 1800s were anything other than farmers, my grandfather (son of the immigrant ggf farmer) ended up in Michigan working as a brakeman for the RR. So I was curious if anyone in their family worked for the RR down there first. Emily Topp Born Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
