I have been looking for ELIZABETH LIGHTNER'S parents for years and years, and my grandpa before me- a complete zip-zero has been found. I am wondering if since you posted this, there has been any progess that you are aware of that has ANY parental CLUE for ELIZABETH LIGHTNER.The ONLY clue I have is that a PAUL LEITNER signed SARAH CRITES CONE'S [[daughter of HENRY CRITES and ELIZABETH LIGHTNER] petition for gardianship of her children after her husband, WILLIAM CONE was killed in the Civil War. I know this PAUL HAS to be a relative, but can't find out any more. From this signature, which I have a copy of, he used LEITNER instead of LIGHTNER, BUT they are really interchangable. I DID find out a LITTLE about PAUL, but no clue as to his parantage either. I BELIEVE he is the PAUL LEITNER from ILL census, as there is NONE OTHER as I can find. I figure he is probably a sibling to ELIZABETH LIGHTNER CRITES. BUT--- the! big question still remains for me- WHO IS SHE DESCENDED FROM!I have an unidentified picture of an ancestor who COULD have some Indian heritage, I THINK, but no pic ID. I really don't know if they are Indian or not. I have speculated and searched Ohio records, as Betsey Lightner was only 17 when she married, and unless her parents were dead, and she came to Ohio with someone else, someone has to be in the Ohio 1820-1830 census records, I would think, that are related to her, but I can't find out who. If you would like to contact me directly, here is my address. WOuld you share a part of your ancestry with me,and see if I can place ANY name at all? I just joined this group- hopefully I will be able to get some "brick walls" knocked down here for my husband. Here is what I have so far for his family: James Malcolm Black- my husband B: Dec. 10, 1946 Hammond, Lake, Indiana His parents (who never married- James W. later married in TX): James Walton Grafton B: Mar 24, 1922 Beaver Township, Pulaski County, Indiana D: Dec 14, 1983 San Antonio, Bexar, Texas Gertrude E. Hampsten B: abt 1919 , , Illinois D: April 1, 1985 Won't get into the maternal side's family- just the paternal. What info I have here for James W.'s birth and parents' names, dates, & birth location came from the Pulaski County Health Department. Here is James Walton's parents: Everett Grafton B: ? , , Indiana D: ? , , ? Hannah Louise Conwell B: Jan. 7, 1897 , White, Indiana D: ? , , ? Everett's parents are: Willy K. (Kelley William) Grafton B: Nov 1867 , , Indiana D: ? , , ? Sarah Caroline Bagwell B: Dec. 1876 , , Indiana D. ? , , ? Being that James W. Grafton and Gertrude Hampsten were both in Hammond, Indiana when my husband (James M. Black) was born, we are guessing that Everett and Hannah moved up there some time after James W.'s birth. Possible that both Everett and Hannah died up there- who knows. Betty Black
