    1. [INPULASK] JAMES: John, Lewis and David
    2. JOHN JAMES, page 527, from the Chapter on Monroe Township, Section titled Incorporation, which is about the incorporation of the County Seat, Winamac, Indiana, which occurred in 1868. The part discussing JOHN JAMES occurs eight years later: "May, 1876 - Trustees, JOSEPH COLLINS, JAMES TOBY, SIMON WEYAND, J. N. LITTLE and J. H. KELLEY; Clerk, S. PEARSON; Treasurer, H. E. PATTISON; Marshall, JOHN JAMES;......." LEWIS JAMES, page 599, from the Chapter on Tippecanoe Township, section titled "Settlement".......In 1843, the following persons from Wayne County, Ohio, settled in the Township: LEWIS JAMES, PETER YOUNG, JOHN YOUNG and HENRY CUTT......." LEWIS JAMES, page 600, from the Chapter on Tippecanoe Township, section titled "Early Land Holders. - .....LEWIS JAMES, 160 acres in Section 14, November 7, 1842;.........[NOTE I have a 1873 Plat of Tippecanoe Township, there were no JAMES having property in Section 14; however, to the East in Section thirteen, specifically, W1/2 of SW1/4 (80 acres) is listed as L. JAMES, EST (L. JAMES Estate?). DAVID JAMES, page 638, from the Chapter on Franklin Township, section titled "First Settlement - ........In the fall of 1852, DAVID JAMES came from Ohio, and purchased the northwest quarter of Section 30, and at once began the improvement of his new home,........" NOTE I am not sure the author was correct on this entry, when the book was written in 1883, further investigation is needed, and here are my reasons 1. Early elections in Franklin Township do not list a DAVID JAMES, but do list a DAVID JONES. 2. Looking at a 1873 Plat of Franklin Township, shows that the NW1/4 of Section 30 was deeded to a David Jones. ----- Original Message ----- From: "William Taber" <willgen@mac.com> To: <INPULASK-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 22, 2002 12:26 AM Subject: Re: [INPULASK] Surnames in Pulaski County History Book The J's Michael Could you please post the entries for the JAMES families? I haven't been able to find anything on them, however, I did find a Sampson James that married a Lillie Clark in Pulaski Co. IN on Jan 31, 1886. I am wondering if this is the couple I am searching for. (Eva's siblings are: Homer, Ernest, Nora, and Lizzie.) Any help would be appreciated.
