    1. [INPOSEY] Re: Civil War Help! (John and Samuel Weare)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Weare, Wear Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Zi.2ADE/1624.1 Message Board Post: I'm attempting to develop brief biographies for 19th Century veterans from Posey County, including Civil War veterans. The little information I have regarding the brothers in your inquiry is that they were children of Hasel and Abigail Weare (or Wear) with siblings including Mary, Matilda, Malinda, and Eliza. John H. Weare was a Private in Company A of the 65th Indiana Infantry. He mustered in from Mt. Vernon on August 20, 1862. He mustered out July 4, 1865. Samuel M. Weare was a Musician in Company A of the 65th Indiana Infantry. He mustered in from Mt. Vernon on August 20, 1862. He died at home on February 4, 1863. Are you certain your ancestor was a younger brother of John H. Weare. Could have have been a son or nephew? In terms of finding additional information, I've been unable to locate a pension application for or on behalf of either brother. You can obtain information on service records from the U.S. Archives, but this information is unlikely to provide much genealogical assistance. You may, however, learn something of historical interest. If you don't know how to order these records, and wish to do so, please send me an email and I'll try and point you in the right direction. Good searching.
