Early land records were not very consistent at listing the spouse, so with a common name it may be hard to determine which John McDaniel is involved. I note early Posey Co marriages list 4 John McDaniel marriage between 1824 and 1833. Some land records do list buyers home states and or where sellers have moved. Some also list long line of ancestors if land has been passed through several family members with out public transfers being recorded. While Black Twp and Gibson Co are fairly distant, with extended family they could have been working 2 farms or could have bought them for speculation. If these were original entries from Federal Government, the records are with Bureau of Land Management and records were on line but have been taken off line due to a law suit. Subsequent resale and purchase records are at county locations (Princeton and Mt Vernon). Most of these have also been microfilm and are available at libraries and from LDS. I do find a John McDaniels listed as original entries in T6, R14, S33 which is NW of Mt Vernon and about 2 miles from Wabash River.
