My ancestor was Winifred, who married William Gambrel, Sr. If you go to Ancestry.com and type in Shadrach Elkins, you will get Tom Hamm's information on Shadrach Elkins. You could also e-mail him on thamm@bellsouth.net. There is evidence that two different Shadrach Elkins lived at the same time and served in the Revolutionary War.
