Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/In/Posey/1235 Surname: THOMPSON, MILAM, GUDE, COUCH, JOHNSON ------------------------- Posey County site. I've been looking in the southern Indiana county sites for a couple of reasons. One is I'm not sure where all my Thompson's were located, and second, for instance, Gibson County came into being early in the 1800's, so earlier records may be identified under a different county name. I'm not that versed in the changes and when and where certain records were kept, etc. I wanted you to know I have Thompson's in that area (Posey perhaps), and we might have a connection. I have no female Thompsons (born such) outside of my aunts and anecdotal to my great-grandfather's sister's Cindy Jane and Lucretia (Lily) -- still no records. Anyway, good luck and let me know if there is a connection there. Regards, Mary Thompson tHIS IS AN EMAIL I SENT TO ANOTHER RESEARCHER: I'm still looking for my THOMPSON family lineage in Gibson County. I have more info than before, I believe I may have contacted you several months ago. Below is my compliation from family and friends, as of yet I have only direct documents on my grandparents Albert and Meda Gude (MILAM) THOMPSON. Only have anecdotal on the earlier info. Do you have access to Tartt's and Stormont's Histories of Gibson County? I think this is where some links may be hiding. Please let me know if you have any ideas or info, or are willing to do a lookup? Thanks so much, Mary Thompson Surnames: THOMPSON, MILAM, GUDE, JOHNSON, WARRICK?, COUCH, WOODS, HUDLESON, SMITH NOTE: Yes, there are some contradictions, but this is what I have. ************************************************** I have the following on my family from Gibson & Knox Counties, Indiana. Thanks for any assistance. My email is [email protected] *************************************************** Leland Lindley THOMPSON - my father, b. 1915, Owensville, Gibson County, Indiana. Died 1972, Calif. Albert Warrick THOMPSON - my grandfather, b. 1883 Owensville, Gibson County, Indiana. Married in 1911 to Meda Gude MILAM of Bruceville, Knox County, IN. Their children were Alberta KENEIPP, Lenore Emily (died young), Leland Lindley, Rowena Elaine (disappeared about 1945, had a daughter Penelope), and Jeanne Marie FORDIS. Grandmother Meda was the daughter of John W. MILAM and Ida Ella GUDE of Knox Co. Indiana. John Daus THOMPSON, Albert's father. Born Owensville (possibly around 1850's), d. Owensville 1910 m. Emma/Emily Ann JOHNSON (I have a lot of her line). Their children were Albert Warrick (above), Archie E. and Willis. *********************************************** Info from my Aunt gathered 5/10/00: Her grandfather was John Daus THOMPSON possibly the son of a Joseph THOMPSON. He went by Daus and died in 1910. His wife was Emily Ann JOHNSON who moved into Owensville town after he died and "ran" the farm from there until she passed after 1914. Daus had two sisters and a brother: Lucretia (Lily) who married a SMITH and had a daughter Eva. Lily changed her name back to THOMPSON and both her and Eva used THOMPSON all their lives. Cindy Jane b. about 1880, and Oscar b. much earlier. Daus was born and died in Owensville, Gibson Co., don't know if there was another location in between. My grandfather Albert THOMPSON was born in Owensville in 1883. Albert's brother Archie E. THOMPSON married Elizabeth COUCH and had at least two children - "Al-leen" (sic) a daughter, and John Doss THOMPSON (Yes, Doss is his change in the spelling and she didn't know why). Don't know Archie's birth date, but around 1880's, so marriage around 1910's and kids after that. Albert's brother Willis (called Uncle Will by my aunt) had scarlet fever as a child, was sickly all his life and never married. ********************************************* >From Eugenia (WOODS) HUDELSON 5/10/00: John Daus THOMPSON possibly had a brother named Francis Marion THOMPSON (contradicts earlier info on a direct connection to my line). He was called Marion and had at least one child, Julia THOMPSON. Julia married a WOODS and Eugenia (WOODS) HUDELSON is her daughter - making Eugenia a cousin. John Doss THOMPSON, Eugenia and my Aunt Alberta all graduated from the Owensville High School in 1928 Eugenia was born in 1910, Alberta in 1911. They all went to Purdue University. John Doss THOMPSON married a Mary from Cantland (sic), Indiana. Both are deceased now.
