I sent a letter to the Office of Recorder of Posey Co, IN asking they look at the East 1/2 SE portion of Section 3 in Township 6 South, Range 14 West, 80 acres in the name of John Philips about 1816 to see who he purchased this land from and who owned it after him and the correct dates of ownership. I received the response that their office is unable to do research of this sort. Enclosed were the business cards of an attorney and an abstract/title insurance company.
