I always 'heard' the Germans moved into the OHIO Valley because it reminded them of 'home'. The Ohio Valley and the 'Beautiful Blue Ohio' river especially between Pittsburgh and Cincinnati looked similar to the river valleys in Germany. It was just natural to move on down the river.
