I am descended from a John Alldredge of Posey County, possibly (from the dates) Napoleon's uncle. John was married and had a pregnant wife when he went to California in 1849 to join the gold rush. He went on to Australia when gold was found down there and eventually returned yo Mt. Vernon the day after his faithful wife's funeral. The child with whom she was pregnant when he left was 42 or 43 years old! Anyway, do you have any genealogy on the Alldredge family? Do you know when they arrived in Posey and where they came from..
