I don't know much at all except that my great-grandmother's birth name was Emily Ann ALLDREDGE; b. Jan. 25, 1841, Black Twp, Posey County; d. March 10, 1875, Black Twp; she married, 1st, a McFadden and had a daughter, Jenny, b. abt. 1867, Black Twp, d. Feb 23, 1892, Black Twp, who married Charles Weir. McFadden died and she married, 2nd, Noah Moore, Feb. 11, 1866, Black Twp, and they had 3 children: William, m. Znora Donaldson; Helen, m. Charles Gettings, and Harriet N., who m. Wilford Herbert Brookins, April 12, 1893, Black Twp. Harriet's daughter, Mabel, who m. Wilburn Frederick Cook in 1920, was my mother. Back to John ALLDREDGE: I have posted the story about him joining the gold rush in 1849. His daughter Emily was born Jan 25, 1841 so I would guess he was born about 1820. I really don't know. I have heard that the Alldredge family came from North Carolina. The name is also spelled Aldridge, Alldridge, and Aldredge. To confuse the matter further, their are people in Posey County with the surname, Aldrich. I don't know if there is a connection there or not. Hope this helps a little bit.
