>From the new Harmony circuit book of 1840, is the list of membership of Paris Methodist Church. Our community was called Paris until a post office was established in 1853, when it was renamed Stewartsville after William Stewart, who laid out the town in 1838. The list consists of Jacob, Mary, Leander, James and Issac N. Whitaker, Jane Smith,Peter and Jane Guthrie, sarah Brooks, Felix and Mary Westfall, Ananias and Mary Ramsey, Robert and Abby Stewart, Sara Wise, sara Runnels, and the Perrys,Defurs, Robbs, Calvins, Bennetts,Eatons, Brittons, Welborns,Crabtrees,Hanes, Joleys, Dunlaps, Dailys, Millers, Thompsons, and Wiggins.
