    3. Hi, I lived outside of Cynthiana while a girl. It is in the NE part of the county, almost touching the Gibson Co. line. I lived a mile east of town and the Gibson Co line was on the graveled road in front of my house. The Posey line came to with 1/2 mi of my house. Cynthiana is in Smith Twp, but if you check the early history of Posey Co., I think Smith may have been a part of Robb (but not for sure). My Crabtree relatives lived in two counties and never moved. I think in the early 1800's the boundary of Gibson and Posey was different than now. We always heard the story (in school) that Cynthiana was named after two old maids--Cynthia and Anna. Actually it was named after Cynthiana, KY, where many of the settlers came from. My Crabtree/Goodwin/Johnson relatives were all early settlers in the area. Some of my Crabtree/Johnson relatives were the founders of Old Union Church in Johnson Twp (Gibson Co) and later Seven Mile Prairie (outside Carmi in White Co., IL) when there was a split in the Old Union Church.
