He was the son of Hazel Weare and Eliza unknown. His brother Samuel was b~1838 also in KY. Sisters, Darcus, Mary E., and Matilda. They came to Posey co. from Bracken co. KY ~1856/57. Hazel marries Abigail (Platt) McDaniel June 28,1857 in Posey Co. Abigail's brother was Agur Platt and her son was Julius McDaniel. They were also in the Civil War. Hazel then marries Martha (Rippetoe) Owens, Oct.24,1863 and has John H. Weare b~1865 and George R. Weare b~1868.There has just been too many marriages and children of Hazel and his wives, 4 marriages and 20 children in all! (So far...) Rosa Ellen, daughter of Edwin and Christina, 13 Aug 1872 - 12 Feb 1887 Christina, his wife, 17 Jun 1848 - 17 Mar 1889 Presumably Edwin is there too, but he is not listed - you may want to check with the cemetery to see if they have anything on him. It's also pure conjecture, but there is a Lewis Stallings buried in the same cemetery (b. 9 Oct 1824, d. 1 Jul 1907) who could possible be her father or related - try a census search.

The little information I have regarding the brothers in your inquiry is that they were children of Hasel and Abigail Weare (or Wear) with siblings including Mary, Matilda, Malinda, and Eliza. John H. Weare was a Private in Company A of the 65th Indiana Infantry. He mustered in from Mt. Vernon on August 20, 1862. He mustered out July 4, 1865. Samuel M. Weare was a Musician in Company A of the 65th Indiana Infantry. He mustered in from Mt. Vernon on August 20, 1862. He died at home on February 4, 1863. Are you certain your ancestor was a younger brother of John H. Weare. Could have have been a son or nephew? In terms of finding additional information, I've been unable to locate a pension application for or on behalf of either brother. You can obtain information on service records from the U.S. Archives, but this information is unlikely to provide much genealogical assistance. You may, however, learn something of historical interest. If you don't know how to order these records, and wish to do so, please send me an email and I'll try and point you in the right direction. Good searching.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Lasley, Lassly, Leslie, Lesley, Austin, Curtis Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Zi.2ADE/1627 Message Board Post: Hello Posey County folks, I dearly hope someone out there is able to help me and my search for more information about my great grandfather, James Preston Lasley (Lassly, Leslie, etc.). In general, pretty much all I know about "my" Lasleys can be found at: http://www.greglasley.net/lasley.html if anyone is interested. I can account for him with documentation only between 1855 when he showed up in Posey Co., IN and married Sarah Jane Austin to 1865 when he died as a soldier after the end of the Civil War as a member of the 30th Indiana Infantry Regiment. I would very much like to get in touch with any other Lasley researchers in IN or elsewhere who think they might be able to help. The above web page has links to individual biographies of JPL & SJA and others with all the information I know. The biographies about JPL at: http://www.greglasley.net/jplasley.html and of SJA at: http://www.greglasley.net/sjaustin.html and of James Dennis Lasley at: http://www.greglasley.net/jdlasley.html actually have a few bits of interesting Posey County information including the account of JDL shooting his stepfather, Commodore D. Curtis. Any help will certainly be appreciated. I am trying to determine when JPL came to Posey County, who his parents were, etc. Greg Lasley Austin, Texas
