    3. I am looking for information on the MURPHY and GWALTNEY families, early Posey county settlers. John Gwaltney was born in 1765 in North Carolina, and settled in Robb Township, Posey county where he was buried in 1819. His wife, Anne Murphy, was born 1771 in North Carolina and dies in 1827, also buried in Robb Township, Posey, IN. Anne's parents were Thomas Murphy and Adah Rice. They were married 8/12/1789 in Craven Co., NC. If anyone knows of these families or of the early Robb Township history, I'd love to hear from you. Sincerely...Justine Bradford

He shows up in the 1840 census but not in the 1850. His spouse Eliza is now the head of the house in 1850 under the surname of Dannal. Have come to a brick wall on this and any help would be greatly appreciated.

    3. I finally get someone else looking at Rister, and I DON'T have the info......... SOB.....SOB......Boo Hoo....bawl.... Maybe we could knock heads Tonna and figure out what part of the line it was. How about some time lines ? MAJORITY of the Rister lines ended up in White Co Ill. My grandmother was Bertha Mae Rister d/o Job Calvin Rister s/o Abraham Rister s/o Harmon Rister s/o God Knows Who. Our brick wall, more like a trench since we all fall into it so much, is Harmon/Christopher/Jacob Rister who appear to be 3 brothers. Fight about the bloodline here tho. They are supposed to have been 3 Cherokee brothers that were Christianized by the Maryland Reister family as they traveled west. LOTS of arguement on that part of it. POSSIBLE that one of them really WAS a Reister that stayed I suppose. Not much known about Harmon in Posey. Got married, got into a fight, left, moved to Wayne Co Ill. died there c1840. He is buried in St. Phillips catholic church cemetery. I was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana and I once drove out there to find his gravestone. This was many years ago and it was in bad shape, but I did find it. I could not get the dates on it, but at least you know it is there. We are probably related.
