According to 1886 History of Posey Co George Smith first married Lydia Tate and 5 years later moved to KY where she died. He then married Sarah Armstrong in 1810 and two years later moved to Posey Co. George is buried in Smith Cem, Smith Twp and Sarah (wife) 17 Dec 1784 - 24 June 1854 is adjacent. I believe there are other children. Smith Twp is named for George Smith. This site has been very helpful to me in finding Posey Co cemeteries so I thought I would share it. Go to http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form choose a state, type in the county name, choose a Feature Type (cemetery, church, PO, etc) and don't bother filling in the other spaces. Click on Send Query. When the next page comes up, click on a cemetery. When the next page comes up, scroll down and click on Show Feature Location. This will give you two maps with a dot indicating the location. With these maps, along with the location descriptions given in the books Posey Co Burials by Darlene McConnel, I was able to piece together a map of all the cemeteries in Posey Co by printing out each map, placing the pages on top of each other and tracing all the locations onto one master map. (tell your printer to print only page 2 of the maps) Hope this is helpful to everyone. Wanda
