One of my family lines is Peter Martin, Jr. of German parents was born in Pittsburgh, PA on 14 Apr 1838. He married Martha Schreiber on 26 Dec 1856. She was born 20 May 1840 in IN? Gary Kapperman: On your last posting, I noticed the surname SCHRIEBER. I tried sending this directly to you but the email wouldn't go through. Have been searching for information on Rachael SCHRIEBER b. 21 Oct 1838 and sister Louisa SCHRIEBER b. 28 August 1837. They immigrated in the mid-1840's and married brothers, Augustus and George MUGGE. Rachael and Augustus were married 25 Mar 1857 in Posey Co. George & Louisa's first child was born in Posey Co. Nov. 1856 but I haven't found a record of their marriage. I haven't been able to locate any of them prior to the 1860 Posey Co. census. Both the SCHRIEBERS and the MUGGES had additional siblings, according to oral family history, but I've yet to be able to establish 'proof' of the relationship between the two lines. I descend from the Augustus/Rachael line. Hope we tie in somehow. Kay in Colorado

What I have noticed is a significant amount of people orginating from Hessen-Darmstadt. I have been told that many fokes already had their land bought before they came over. My ancestors census records have Hessen-Darmstadt as place of origin. I have since learned that probably does on mean the town of Darmstadt, but the region (including many villages). So because I cannot find the specific village of origin, I was wondering if there where connections between specific villages within Hessen-Darmstadt(Germany) and immigration to Posey Co. I also know that many times families from a specific region came over together on the same ship. I have my ancestors ship list. Do you think it would be worth posting the infomation in to see if anyone can has a connection with an individual? And, is there any connection with the Hessen-Darmstadt immigrants and the settlement of Darmstadt, IN? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Shane
