Moved to Washington Co., IL after 1870. Attempting to locate death certificate for Caroline PRENZEL 27 July 1836 - 14 April 1916. Census for 1870 through 1910 shows her living in Town of Mt. Vernon. Buried in Bellefontaine Cem. Posey Co. Make sure, in Evansville, you go to the WILLARD Library, at the northeast corner of the Lloyd Expressway and 1st Avenue. The entire top floor is packed with genealogical material. A wonderful resource. I love this genealogy! Cookie, in Florida
Poseyville also has a nice small library with a lot of info. It is a mile off I-64 before you get to Evandsville coming from the west. It is a Carnegie Library. A local lady, (Cox), wrote numerous books with all the cemetaries and whose buried in them.
Janet, Hi, having just a few months ago, made my first trip to the Posey County area with limited amount of time there for research, I'd like to make the following suggestions: 1. do go to the public library in Mt. Vernon -- right on the main street so you can't miss it. The staff there are very helpful and they have a good corner area on genealogy. 2. DO go to Evansville and hit the library there -- just off the freeway so it too is easy to find and is worth the stop if only to look at the wonderful architecture and beautiful restoration of the building!! The staff there are wonderfully helpful and the genealogy floor has an incredible amount of information on the local southern IN area. Is it on the Internet? Besides just the politicians buried there? Just found out tonight that is where she is buried.
