Both Posey County Cemetery Records by Carroll O. Cox and Posey County Burials, Vol II, by Darlene McConnell lists: John Six, Va. Mil. Rev. War in Maple Hill Cemetery (no dates). In each book there is only one John Six buried in Posey Co. in Maple Hill Cemetery. Good luck! Anita and anyone connected to the HILL FAMILY in Posey Co, IN: I am searching the siblings of FRANCIS HILL, who was born in NJ, 9 April 1790, and married abt. 1818 to ELIZABETH TRUSS, b.7 Feb 1799, Salem Co, NJ. I am also searching HER SIBLINGS and PARENTS OF BOTH. Their first son Daniel Frances Hill was b. 7 Feb 1819 in POSEY CO, IN. I have seen some info saying the elder Francis could have the same name, but I'm not sure he was DANIEL FRANCIS HILL, also. EPHRAIM would be the right age to be FRANCIS' brother. Can someone tell me how to reach the census or other information available in Posey Co for this time period? Good Luck in your searches, and keep me in mind if you find anything about them, please. Enoch's father was Ephraim HILL b. 1791 - I have not researched this myself, so I can't be sure, but I thought the Posey Co. connection might be significant. What do you think? Hey to all: Somewhere in the back of my mind I recall that the Alldredge family came from the vicinity of Beaufort, North Carolina. Don't be confused. There also is a Beaufort in South Carolina. NC is pronounced BO-fort and SC is pronounced BUE-fort. The Alldredge group is from BO-fort. (I think). Cookie, in Florida

I don't know much at all except that my great-grandmother's birth name was Emily Ann ALLDREDGE; b. Jan. 25, 1841, Black Twp, Posey County; d. March 10, 1875, Black Twp; she married, 1st, a McFadden and had a daughter, Jenny, b. abt. 1867, Black Twp, d. Feb 23, 1892, Black Twp, who married Charles Weir. McFadden died and she married, 2nd, Noah Moore, Feb. 11, 1866, Black Twp, and they had 3 children: William, m. Znora Donaldson; Helen, m. Charles Gettings, and Harriet N., who m. Wilford Herbert Brookins, April 12, 1893, Black Twp. Harriet's daughter, Mabel, who m. Wilburn Frederick Cook in 1920, was my mother. Back to John ALLDREDGE: I have posted the story about him joining the gold rush in 1849. His daughter Emily was born Jan 25, 1841 so I would guess he was born about 1820. I really don't know. I have heard that the Alldredge family came from North Carolina. The name is also spelled Aldridge, Alldridge, and Aldredge. To confuse the matter further, their are people in Posey County with the surname, Aldrich. I don't know if there is a connection there or not. Hope this helps a little bit. >Clara E. Devine b. 1859-1861, m. Napoleon Alldredge b.Jan 1 1880, d. Feb >26, 1908. She was my GGGrandmother. Ann = I saw your post and am curious: If she was your GGGrandmother does it follow that HE was your GGGrandfather? I am descended from a John Alldredge of Posey County, possibly (from the dates) Napoleon's uncle. John was married and had a pregnant wife when he went to California in 1849 to join the gold rush. He went on to Australia when gold was found down there and eventually returned yo Mt. Vernon the day after his faithful wife's funeral. The child with whom she was pregnant when he left was 42 or 43 years old! Anyway, do you have any genealogy on the Alldredge family? Do you know when they arrived in Posey and where they came from.. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I love this genealogy! Cookie, in Florida < [email protected] >
