As I sit here watching Matt Lauer and Katie Couric at Herald Square in New York City and the cutting of the ribbon to begin Macy's Parade I can't help but think how grateful I am that each and every one of my immigrant ancestors chose to come when and to where they did - otherwise I wouldn't be here. And I do enjoy living, especially right here in the United States of America. Thanks to God! Happy Turkey to you all. Bob Cook, in Florida

Hi, I lived 1 mi east of Cynthiana as a girl---right on the Gibson/Posey line and played in Big Creek. It ran about 1/3 mile west of my house (between my house and Cynthiana. So it is a fairly long creek. Cynthiana is located in the very NE corner of Posey County. Happy Thanksgiving. It runs north-south betweeen Wadesville and Blairsville. Actually, it's probably only a mile or two outside of Blairsville. I looked in the Cox's cemetery book and didn't see one listed but there are several unnamed cemeteries in Center Twp., which is where this would be.

It's a small cemetery, according to the book as there are only 30-some graves listed. In other books, there are many references to several George Row(e)s but all much later than 1818. However, In Darlene's book "Genealogy Lists of P. C. Vol. I", pg. there is a land purchase by George Row on 5/3/1814. It's for 162 acres in the NW corner of Section 2, Township 7, Range 14 West. That would be in the southwest part of the county. Also, on page 230 in a list titled "20 Revolutionary Soldiers intered (sic) in Posey County" it says: "George Rowe, buried on farm near Upton." Was he in the Rev. War? If so, this might be him. Upton is in the southwest part of the county. If you have any other leads, I could look in some other books. Hope this is of some help. Yesterday I put out the followig, on several lists, as a 'Beatitude for Genealogists.' It is not original with me. 'Blessed are the elderly for they remember things we'll never know.' Today I received this retort, which I think is great. 'Blessed are the young, for they'll never know the things we remember.' Think about it. Touche' Cookie, in Florida

Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/In/Posey/1365 Surname: WILLIAMS ------------------------- I am searching for the Henry and Della WILLIAMS family. they farmed in the bottoms near the river for many years. Trying to locate some of the family still living in the area. They are suppose to be buried in a cemetery near Johnson, Indiana. Can anyone help me find some of the relatives. They use to come to Ewing, Illinois to a Williams reunion the 3rd Sunday in August and the reunion was held behind the Elder Williams Chapel Baptist Church. Does this bring back a memory for someone?
If you are researching a Schmitt line connected to Posey or even Vanderburgh Counties I would like to hear from you. We have just found another connection in Posey to the Johann B. Schmitt/Mary Steibli line in Posey. As of last night we have this line back to 1649 in Schoenau, Alsace and estimate the parent born about 1628. This may be the end of this search as the 1649 birth was the first one recorded on the records. Also if some of you would like some practice on your Latin let me know. Some of these records could use verification in the translation, mainly to get relationships, occupations, titles, ect. What is used is medieval Latin and could also be termed as "very-eval" to read Latin. Interesting to have a German priest writing Latin in France. You could guess that some French words and German script letters would find their way into the records. If you have interest here contact me at my e-mail address. Gilbert
