    3. Hi-- The spelling of Stuartsville is Stewartsville and it is just outside Poseyville, to the NW (I think). My ggg grandmother, Sarah Bennett Crabtree is buried in the Stewartsville cemetery-- she has a flat marker, which was gradually being covered by grass the last time I saw it (abt 4 yrs ago). And supposedly her father, Legro? Bennett is buried there-- but has no marker. There is a small grove of trees on the west side of the cem which looked like it might have had a fence around it-- there are concrete posts, but there is no marker. I cannot prove as of now that Legro was her father. Another Bennett researcher has Legro leaving the area and going to MO. Legro supposedly came from Christian Co, KY, where the Crabtrees came from and he was in the Revolutionary War. The Crabtrees originally came from the Carolinas and Sarah supposedly was born in VA. So these early folks got around a bit, didn't they? I do not know where the poor farm was-- it may have been closer to Mt. Vernon-- I'd be interested in knowing more about the county, and also connecting with any Bennetts or Crabtrees. Thanks. It's great to get an idea of who my ancestors were. It appears that there were a small number of families clustered around Stuartsville, which appears to still be a very small spot on the map. Could anyone tell me more about Stuartsville. My mother remebers that her grandfather (Rufus Mayberry Stinnett) was the administrator for the county poor house. This would have been sometime around 1900 (maybe earlier, maybe later). Was the poorhouse in Stuartsville or Mt. Vernon?
