John, Is the Newby Cemetery a Quaker Cemetery? ON the probing and Permission slip; You are so right to get that permission slip. When I first started thinking about doing all of this, I was approached by someone who was very protective about probing and I'm sure her concern was to prevent us from finding anything historical. We began in a historic area of our County. It didn't take long before I was showing the group how to poke around for a broken piece we were trying to locate for a child's stone. Well, someone walked up and said "hey what do you thing your doing here" As it turned out, he was joking. But I was very glad I had worked through the lesson above and could explain this to the group working that day. I have told many people, I'm not digging to China. Just fixing the stones. I also don't want to find anything that would creep me out either! So far I'm really enjoying all of this. And I want to keep it that way. L.A. ~ Tippecanoe
