Jack, At least people there seem to care enough to call a cop when they think something might not be right. In our county, we've always said no one watches the cemeteries and you could kill your wife tonight and take her to any one of them and bury her and no one would be the wiser. I finally got the City of Placerville to pass an ordinance prohibiting entrance to the city's cemeteries after dark. That gave the neighbors a tool to use to call the cops any time someone was in there at night. (Of course, it's a misdemeanor, but if they're vandalizing, it gets kicked up into the Penal Code.) Hello list' I am currently working on Fall Creek Union Cemetery in Washington Twp.,Marion Co. In. this is one of six cemeteries Washington Township Trustee contracted me to restore.I was concerned about probing, recovering, and removing stones when necessary to accomplish restoration.I spoke with the DNR and was advised to have a permission slip from the Township Trustee.I agree with Jack it is always a good thing to get permission.I must also say that I would go to jail with the rest of you if probing for lost and missing History is illegal. The permission slip I have and carry with me to and from the Cemetery simply states..... To Whom It May Concern: I give John Walters permission to probe, recover, and remove stones for the purposes of restoration at the following cemeteries: Newby Cemetery, 79th & Springmill Rd. Bacon Cemetery, S/E Corner,Kessler Blvd. & Keystone DeFord Cemetery, 4700 E.75th St. Crows Nest Cemetery, Springmill Rd. & Kessler Blvd. Fall Creek Union Cemetery, 4100 Millersville Rd. Ebenezer Lutheran Church Cemetery, directly behind Fall Creek Union Cemetery Sincerely, Gwendolyn, M. Horth Township Trustee It has her letterhead and signature on it. I know that these new Cemetery Laws have a lot of loop holes in them and you guys do a terrific job of picking them to death as they should be.But, I spoke with Rep. Mark Lytle at the Madison workshop and he stated to me the intent of these new laws is not to prevent or stop rightful restoration.
