    3. Dear Jim: Take a look at the INPCRP archives for April through June 2000 at: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/usa/IN/misc.html#INPCRP That's when we went head to head with Black Beauty Coal Company over Braner Cemetery up in Sullivan County, Indiana. The big difference there was that Peabody Coal took the liberty of running its LOGGING EQUIPMENT through the cemetery, demolishing each and every one of the stones, before filing their "Petition to Disinter" the cemetery. Through the concerted efforts of dozens of good folks on this list, we were able to create a firestorm of negative publicity in Sullivan County and, on a broad platform, in the Indianapolis Star. (God bless Bill Shaw!!) The battle went on until June 5, 2000, when Black Beauty Coal withdrew its Petition to Disinter in Sullivan Superior Court. I haven't heard any reports in recent years on the current fate of the cemetery. There was literally nothing left above ground to restore except for a couple of tiny fragments. Jim, it sounds like this company in Illinois is hoping to avoid "disturbing" the graves by mining underneath them instead of incurring the expense of relocating them. I am still troubled by the proposal.
