Sorry, I should have explained what I was doing. I sent INPCRP a copy of questions I sent to the city regarding cemeteries under the Indy Works Proposal. Indy Works is Mayor Bart's plan to to end the Township government system in Marion County. All township duties, except the school systems, would be consolidated under the city/county UNIGOV. The reason for this is the city/county financial problem due to the current economy, and things that were not dealt with over the last 30 years. The Mayor has appointed a commission to look at the proposal. There have been 2 meetings, with 3 to go, to explain the proposal and hear comments. There is some question of whether the comments are being recorded. I have not been able to attend a meeting because of my work schedule. In checking out the proposal on line www.indygov.org I did not see any specific info regarding cemetery care. Any one with questions or concerns can send them to [email protected] If the City goes with this proposal, as I think it will, the Mayor will take it to the Legislature in January for approval and funding.This is where voting for legislators becomes important. Ending the Township government in Marion County may set the trend for the rest of the state. I don't like to bring up political issues on this list, but cemeteries and cemetery law will be directly affected by what happens to county and township government, and the legislators who have, or have not supported cemeteries. Kieth, to answer your question - Indy Works should not affect the completion of the VanSickle project.
