Bloomington (IN) Telephone, Dec 24, 1901, p. 1. LITTLE CHILD BURNED TO DEATH Gosport Reporter: "A little child of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Wampler, aged one year old, was burned to death last Wednesday. The child was playing on the floor and Mrs. Wampler had left the room only a moment when she was startled by a scream, she rushed in and saw the child enveloped in flames and in endeavoring to put out the fire she was badly burned, but not fatal. Doctors were called but could render no aid, the child lingered until evening and then died in great agony. The child had crept to the fire and pulled out a burning stick which caught its clothing in fire."
