I, too have a mystery involving the name Longsdorff, most likely in Owen County. My gggrandmother, Mary Ann McKee (Page) Longsdarff (it is spelled on the marriage record) was born in Owen Co. She married my first my gggrandfather, Moses B. Page in Spencer in 1853 and they had 4 children. After moving to west central Illinois ,Moses was in the Civil war for four years, serving the Ill. 116th Infantry Regiment. He was in all the major battles and MaryAnn must have decided he would not return or perhaps she was misinformed about his death...or??? She married ____ Longsdarff in about 1868. I have the exact date somewhere. At any rate she is recorded as marrying my gggrandfather Moses, a second time (her third marriage) in Ill. when Moses was 79. He was ill and going blind and I'm guessing she became "Widow Longsdarff" and decided to remarry Moses in order to take care of him the rest of his days, which she did in Paris, Il , Edgar Co. I love this story, but would VERY much like to be able to fill in the blanks. If there were Longsdarff (dorff) 's in Owen Co., perhaps she brought the four children back from Illinois during the war to stay with her parents in Freedom during the war (with four little ones, that would be understandable) and after giving up on Moses, married the Longsdarff person. So you see, I am very interested in Doris Williams Longsdorf, born in 1911 as a possible relative with a clue about Mary Ann's second marriage. Would you please tell me all you know about the Longsdorf's in Owen Co.?? THANKS! When she remarried Moses, her name is recorded as Mary Ann McKee (maiden name) Page Longsdarff. I am trying to find out how the Longsdarff (dorff?) marriage came about and whether she came back to Owen Co.where her parents, Alexander McKee and Nancy (Harris) McKee lived near Freedom while married to Mr. L. If anyone could help me with clues to this time period in Mary Anns life (her life between the first marriage to Moses and the second marriage to Moses. I would be most grateful. Their eldest son, Josiah was born in Spencer in 1854 and I assume they shorly removed to Illinois, since they do not show up again (at least as a Page family) in Owen Co. Carolyn Page Strafford
