    2. Janet K. (HODGES) THACKER - lived 1937-2001 (Obituary) Janet Hodges passed away on February 8, 2001. She died from complications of an intestinal infection and heart trouble. Her brother survives, and his name is John Hodges. Janet's parents were Thomas and Lottie (Shuler) Hodges of Spencer, Indiana. Janet (Hodges) Thacker was a first cousin to Robert Hodges of Martinsville and Earl Hodges of Martinsville. Lottie (Shuler) Hodges was a school teacher in the Paragon Schools which are now consolidated with Martinsville Schools in Morgan County, Indiana. The Shulers were from Owen County, Indiana. Thacker Obituary - Spencer Evening World / Martinsville Reporter Times Thacker, Janet Kay (Hodges), age 64, passed away Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 in Birmingham, Alabama. Janet, beloved wife of her loving husband of 40 years James Thacker, was the daughter of Thomas and Lottie Hodges of Spencer. She graduated from Spencer High School, where Tom Hodges was in school administration for several years. She was a High School business education teacher, having both Bachelor and Master's degrees in Business Education from Indiana University. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society. In addition to her husband James, she is survived by her 3 children; Mr. James D. Thacker of Orlando, Fla; Ms. Jennifer E. Thacker of Birmingham, Al; and Mr. John A. Thacker of Atlanta, Ga., and 4 grandchildren; Jordan Thacker, Braden Thacker and Chris Thacker of Birmingham and Joel Thacker of Atlanta. Her brother John Hodges of Cincinnati, Ohio also survives her. Janet Thacker was a special person to all who knew her. She had the gift of encouragement and we will miss her very much. Funeral services will be in Birmingham at Ridout's Southern Heritage on Monday, Feb. 12 at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Mike McLemore, pastor of Lakeside Baptist Church officiating followed with a private graveside service and burial at Southern Heritage Cemetery. Visitation will be at Ridout's Southern Heritage Sunday, Feb. 11 between 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. The family requests memorials to Lakeside Baptist Church Lottie Moon Foreign Mission Offering.
