You may know this already, but while I visited the Putnam County courthouse for the first time today, I noticed a directory of Indiana Physician's licenses so I figured I would look for your name. I don't think it answers your question, but perhaps there is something here that will be new. It didn't say a lot, but said on page 33 that Dr. John W. Mahorney earned his diploma March 3, 1883 from the Indiana Medical College, that he practiced 18 months at Little Point, Morgan County first and since there at Eminence, same county & expects to remove to Belle Union, Putnam county in a short time. This entry was dated Aug. 19, 1886. The book covered many many years, because I looked up two other names that had possible connections to my family lines, and one listed a doctor who graduated in 1952 (not 1852!)
