I think there has a been a misunderstanding about listing the cemetery records online. First off, the DAR did an excellent job recording all the tombstones that they could find. You cannot take their book, over 700 pages, and put it online. That is against the copyright laws. You can, however, REWALK, those cemeteries and place those online. This is true of other books that are still under copyright. Yes these are facts; but unless you abstract the records yourself, you can't use their format. The point that we lookup people would like to make is: We already volunteer to look in the book for names that you give us. Concentrate on those cemeteries that haven't been recorded. Get those online first, then if you want to rewalk the others, great. But by working on those that aren't done first new records will be added to the genealogy pool. I'm also going to add my two cents about the Myfamily site. There's nothing wrong with another Owen Co site, just remember that it's a "closed membership" site and not as easy to stumble into. Don't forget about the USGenWeb site for Owen Co where a lot of volunteers have worked hard to provide FREE information. Shannon Moore Jacksonville, FL mailto:mgm@gate.net
