In Obituaries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/In/OwenObits/36 Surname: WOOD, NORRIS ------------------------- ------------------------------- "Sarah Ann (Norris) Wood" OBITUARY of Owen Co, 14 Oct 1922 Sarah Ann (Norris) Wood was born in Newcomerstown, Ohio, January 13, 1845 and departed this life October 2nd, 1822, aged 77 years, 8 months and 19 days. She united with the M. E. Church of this place under the pastorage of Rev. Merideth at the age of eleven years. She spent the able years of her life working in the church. Although interested in the church and its different organizations of the late years, she was kept away on account of poor health. She was united in marriage to Jas. Wood on February 7, 1862 and to this union seven children were born, four whom, with the father, preceded her in death. She hath lived her allotted three score and ten years and has witnessed the perils and distress of three wars, Civil, Spanish and World Wars. She helped to rear four families of children; her doors have been opened to all and her ministering to the sick has been unequaled. She was cheerful and hopeful, looking ever at the brightest side of life's surroundings. Even in the darkest hours, when her body was racked with pain, there was a cheerfulness so that there seemed to be "sunshine in her soul," that could speak of death as "becoming well." She leaves to mourn their loss one brother, three children, thirty grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. " I cannot say, I will not say, that she is dead - - she is just away! With a cheery smile, and a wave of the hand, She has wandered into an unknown land.
