JOSEPH P GOSS, son of James Elston and Elizabeth (DITTEMORE)GOSS was born in Owen county In 31 March 1847--he died 3 June 1891. Here in Owen County on 3 Apr 1870 he married Rebecca STINES born in 1845--died in 1927. She was the daughter of Joseph L. and Mary E. (HASKETT)STINES, who was 53 in the 1880 census. Joseph P and Rebecca are buried in the Gosport Cemetery in Gosport IN. On 23 Dec 1882 in Owen County Rebecca (STINES)GOSS married Kenner S STIERWALT,son of Frederick. Frederick was born 16 Jan 1801 and Jane (ASHER) STIERWALT born 15 Jan 1804--died 24 Jan 1878. There was one child born of the union of Joseph Goss and Rebecca Stines. MARTHA J. GOSS, born 19 Aug 1876 and she was living in 1965. She married James W SNODGRASS 14 March 1891 in Owen County IN. Interesting answer... guess I need to do some legwork. I have Joel Stine married to Mary Haskett in Owen Co May 3, 1838 and that Rebecca was their daughter. Sounds like there is a mix-up on the Joseph and Joel. Have confirmed a Rebecca in the household of Joel and Mary Stine in 1850. So, I guess it back to sorting out who is who. Thanks for the info..
