Dear Seekers: I've never dealt directly with this service, but there is a fee-based online service called www.vitalchek.com that can probably help some of you. Someone wrote on another list that he obtained his father's birth certificate through this site after several failed attempts dealing directly with the state of New Jersey. Hope this helps. The Vitalcheck does service all 50 states: just click on the one you are interested in. Then you will see where to write, and the costs of whatever document/certificate you want to order/obtain.
